Body lift?

Good day all. Anyone do a body lift on there H3's

I'm looking into this as I want to bump up to 37's and Ned the clearance.

Is it a big job and what about the gaps on the. Bumpers?

Gaps are non existent. Body lift is straight forward. If you have the right tools, and a helping hand, it will take a couple of hours to do.
To clear 37s on stock rims, little parts will need to be trimmed (no big deal)

theres a thread by 58bisc in the tech library section. there will be a bigger gap between the rear door and rear bumper as well as the grill and front bumper lower section. if you have sliders, the gap between sliders and rocker panels will be more although thats not noticeable.
I did the lift in the driveway of my old apartment with a small floor jack, a piece of wood and no extra hands. It's really an easy job...

Nice. Not to worried about my sliders as I haven't added the step to it yet.

Any steering extension issues and or brake line stuff??

I have aftermarket wheels with 13.5 35 tires already. Would I need spacers for 37's after the body lift?

Mine was awful because of rust, took a torch and a 10lb sledge to break free some of the bolts. But other than that pretty straight foward. Just unbolt one side loosen the other jack up one side enough to slide in the extra puck, break free the bolt then bolt it back in. Then repeat on the other side.

Took me about 14 hours because of rust, but others have done it in an hour or two, here are the gap pics.

brush guard covers it really well.

daystar are the only company that makes a BL for the H3 as far as I know and they only make 1".

Wonder if there is a problem going more? I could cut and drill my own 1/2" to ad to the Daystar kit.

I added the daystar body lift and had Rocky road offset the fabrication of my sliders by and inch to eliminate the gap around the frame/pinch welds. After looking at the body lift for awhile the minimal gaps grows on you and fits the truck design. I would say install wise: it's easy but take your time on making sure you follow the directions and watch electrical cabling/cooling hoses and brake lines as you install the lift. I ended up fabbing up a brake line extension bracket for the rear because I had already installed rear shackles. Under articulation I wanted to be sure I wasn't stressing a particular area. After install you will see why daystar only went as far as 1". Over 1" on the body lift requires a lot of customizing of extending lines, cables, steering shafts and fan shroud work.

No. The Rancho is purely a suspension lift.
You guys could always go the cheap, old school route and go get a bunch of hockey pucks. Either just use those or add them to the daystar pucks... Might need longer bolts... There wasn't any brakeline issues or anything like that... You can get some extra slack outta the abs wires by unclipping them from their holders. The only major adjustment was spinning the fan shroud to clear the fan. Takes 5min to spin it and secure it in it's new spot.

Don't bother making your own if you want 1". You will spend more on the bolts than the entire DayStar kit costs.

Will the body lift allow me to clear 37s with the t bars cranked? I have aftermarket wheels that already sit out further then factory.

Should fit fine, but if the backspacing is too low it may actually rub worse. At least thats how it was for me with the rancho lift.

I believe I have 0 offset which is a 4.5in back spacing. 16x8 wheel

You could try dumping Wheaties in the gas tank but I don't think you'll ever get outta 3rd gear... There's just not enough HP or gearing to turn them.

Just did the day star last weekend. Went smooth for a So Cal truck, bolts came right out. Gap is not even noticeable to anyone but you. I would stay at 1" and keep the sway of truck to a minimum. I have 325/65-20s with t-bar cranked to what was 23.6". Ride is still good but can tell the difference. I trimmed bottom of front wheel well on the rear of it by about 2" and still rub at full turn, but I have 20x12 wheels so they are a little wider than most. Try the 1" and if you need more than go from there. If you need an extra hand PM, I live pretty close to you.

Skateboard wheels! Probably cheaper than Daystar.

Be careful going too high. A couple people have had issues with the steering shaft and also some of the wiring. The steering shaft can handle 1" to 1.5" no problem. After that you might need to fab a custom shaft (Borgeson). Go around the truck when done and make sure the wiring isn't stretched or rubbing anywhere.

The THORparts front bumper is "body-lift friendly". Because the grille portion is separate from the bumper...you can shift it up or down to fill in any ugly gaps.

37" tires with stock gearing blows...hope you don't live in a hilly area.

I've heard from others that aslong as it isn't a heavy tire and rim combo it's not that much different. The goodyear wrangler mt/r with kevlar are light, ride smooth, and are fantastic offroad. Not too expensive either.

How much does each tire weigh? The lightest 37" tire I found was the Toyo Open country RT @ 76 pounds each (its supposed to be their new AT tire). Its significantly lighter than the Toyo MT @ 93 pounds

37x12.5x17 is 69lbs each, personally I didn't notice much of a difference between the 315/75/16 km2's and the 37's
