Chad was the 2nd owner of this H3. When he went to sell it someone posted it up and I saw his # and gave him a call. This was months back and I had no plans of doing the solid front axle conversion but it would be cool just to see the process, difficulty and I could share info to those interested in this conversion. When I called him he had NO idea what was so unique about his H3 and seemed annoyed at getting so many phone calls about his front axle. Everyone was interested because there were only 2 known solid axle conversions and they were expensive while this one seemed low budget. After talking to others about his H3 others had given him calls on the forum and got the same response as I did. I just think it's funny and ironic that "chad" didn't know what they hell he even had. He did refer me to the dealership from where he bought it and had no luck finding the old owner or getting info. Now its at some new dealership but states it had 2 previous owners so he probably traded it in for something else. This is still a mystery on who did the work, how well it works and all the other info we want to know, like how the abs system and stuff works with the solid axle. Hopefully someone here buys it and we can look at the setup. Until then we only have the limited info our buddy chad gave us

Hi, my names Dirk. I live down in salt lake city utah, and I am interested in the solid axle swaped H3 you have for sale. I tried calling up there, but couldn't get an answer.

Basically, i want to know that who ever did the solid front axle swap was a professional and not just a hack job done in some guys garage. So i was wondering if you could take some pictures of the front leaf springs/leaf spring hangers/shackles/front drive shaft etc. i'm mainly worried about the strength and quality of the build. I would greatly appreciate it, as i've seen this for sale numurous times, and always been interested, but I can't get anyone to take pictures of it.

First off sorry I didn't answer the phone today but we had a snow storm overnight and it knocked power out to most of the city of Loveland.
I can tell you the lift is done right and is solid. The truck is very clean and is in excellent condition. I can't get pics today because of the snow but will be able to later in the week. When I first got the hummer it drove terrible and I spent some money on it to drive straight. I don't know who did the swap, I haven't been able to find out any information on who does it. My name is Mike and I am the GM of the dealership. I am knowledgable about off road vehicles and have been wheeling myself my whole life. I can give you honest and accurate information about this H-3.

LOL, this is a hokey little car lot on the back side of the fairgrounds. This towns population is something like 50,000. He did say it drove bad and the b4 and after pics make it look like the front end was redone a bit and the bars were replaced or repainted at least. Since he wasnt up front naming a shop where he got the repairs completed at, Id almost guess he had his own shop "GLAM" it up a bit and fix the steering. 30 day warranty is all he needs to get past

I came thru there on Tuesday but I was going too fast to see it, I guess? Snow would have been fun on the way up North but not coming home. Ha ha I should have checked the forum the night before and I could have done an investigation! That is many hours from home.
Maybe timco could check it out? He would know what to look at.

Maybe I will email him and ask for pictures of the conversion. I want to see if the stock T-case is being used and all the other underbody info. I also am interested in seeing the dashboard with the motor on. If his dash is a christmas tree spectacular then obviously its something I would be afraid of. I just think it would be cool to see that this low budget conversion that has all the factory electronics working.

Don't bother...you're wasting your time. This guy makes Chad look like a prince. Here's a snippit of his email response to me, after I asked the same question....

I believe it may be spring-over. He says it looks better than it performs, and really didn't offer any more info than the photos show. It has an ARB locker in the front. The frame has been chopped and modded for the steering box, and it has Bilstein shocks...thats all I could get from the guy. No mention of ABS or TCS...so I don't know if the dash is all lit up or not. He was about as helpful as a third nut.

I've been snubbed before...no big deal. So the mystery continues...

thanks for trying...hes just sounds like another useless tool in this country...seeing hes a useless tool I am shocked to see him at a dealership I would expect him to be involved with the government.

Got a reply and some pictures:

Dirk,
I am back at work today, we got power. I have taken some pics of the Hummer and hopefully these will help you. If not,tell me exactly what you want to see. The last two pics are of the rear suspension.
The frame has been altered to fit the steering box. I had a shop align it and they had to take the tie rod off three times and adjust the ends to get it right. It is "almost" perfect now. We put new ball joints on the front
and rotated the tires front to back. The Hummer can drive straight down the road at 75 mph. It does have bump steer from time to time. The steering wheel is straight and the alignmnet is very good. The tires helped because the fronts have way better tread than the rears do. The spare is new so to make it perfect you could buy one tire. The rims are a 7" wide and for a 325 size tire they honestly need to be 10" wide and that would eliminate any wobble problems and the bump steer. Like I said you can drive it down the hwy at 75 but it could be better with new rims. The 4x4 works, the "high" mode is actually the low mode and with hubs locked in it crawls. I took it out back to a big dirt mound and messed with it to make sure all was working ok. It does have an ARB but for some reason it doesn't work. It is not getting power to the compressor. In my experience with ARB's it is probably a selonoid or fuse issue but I dont know for sure. I am trying to be as up front as I can about this rig. I can't think of anything else. The body is super clean, the rocksliders look like they have never seen a rock and it is very clean inside and out. The tranny shifts perfect and the motor is good! Let me know what else you need.
