Hi guys!

Im having issues with my cruise control.
My cruise control light does not turn on and my cruise control does not switch on or work.

I replaced both the Cruise Control Brake Cancel Switch Assembly #231204479425 and the brake light switch D1596H
I also checked the fuse #36 in my fuse box

Still my cruise control does not work. Any help with be appreciated.

My cruise quit working at 2k miles and the dealer traced it down to a faulty brake light switch. Sounds like you've already tried that.
Perhaps it's the smart switch at the column? The H3 switch has cruise, turn signals, horn, wipers, etc...all built into a single assembly. You must pull the steering wheel and airbag to change it....pretty easy job. The part is around $250.
If you have access to a diagnostic machine, I would think you could verify if the cruise switch is sending a signal or not, before you start tearing stuff apart. I hate electric troubleshooting.

EDIT: You are turning the cruise ON right? Not being smart...just making sure you you're aware of the main switch. All of the functions (set, accel, coast, etc.) are defeated when the switch is in the off position.

4speekFunk, I hate electric problems also. I'm also loosing hair over the compass in the rear view mirror that doesn't work and the temp is out too.
After doing a research on multiple forums I still cannot figure it out.

Is the switch you are talking about on the handle? The manual says the switch is on the end of the handle. I have tried engaging the switch on set and pushing the handle button. I can never get the cruise control light to come on. I’m loosing my mind, Am I doing it all wrong?

The on/off switch is the slide button on the face (not end) of the stalk/handle. To the left is off, middle is on, to the right is resume/accelerate (when cruise is engaged). The button in the end is Set/reduce speed.

To use, first slide the button on the front to the ON position (middle), get up to desired speed, and then push the button on the end to engage/set. That should engage the cruise control and the light on the dash should light (it won't light until you actually engage the cruise control).

Once engaged, sliding the switch to the right will increase the set speed, pushing the button in the end will reduce the set speed, and sliding the button to the left will turn the Cruise control off. Hitting the brake will disengage; sliding the button to the right will re-engage at the previous speed.

If that's what you're doing and it's still not working, I'm lost.

It will be awesome to get the Compass working!

BCM for the Compass? Im going to looking into that.

I also read that the 2006 H3 hummer had battery connection issues. Im going to check on that and see if there are any improvments

Compass is self-contained in mirror.
Look at those cheap electrical connectors at the battery. Best to replace with a good solid clamp style. If running any types of accessories off the battery, look at a RV battery cable with the stud for attaching accessories, such as lights.

Hey 4x4! Just a quick update.
I replace the battery connector. The campass and digital temp is still not working on the rear view mirrors.

Perhaps a dumb question, but have you cycled through the power options in the mirror? If I recall correctly, those items can be turned off. Check your owner's manual.

Fuse? #35.

Do the green LEDs on the mirror work? Can you reach Onstar?

If nothing's working, have you tried disconnecting the harness to the mirror and testing to see if power is coming through?

Very good stuff alrock! I will check the fuse later. Onstar has always worked, the call button to the left work also. I have never seen the green LEDs in the mirrors light up

When I installed my grill lights, I bent a pin when reinstalling the fuse block, knocking out my mirror compass and cruise control. Sounds like those two are tied together for sure.

I recently noticed that my cruise control is not working as well. The brake switch is a good place to start for me. I lost my braje lights on the last off road run I did back in April so maybe both switches were affected on the brake pedal. Thank you 4speed for mentioning that!

I will report back after I check the fuse out.

Hey Guys quick update, Still have not solve the cruise control issue.

Any thoughts? What's the fuse # in the box that controls the cruise control and Campass? Im going to look under the hood and give it another shot.

It's really not found getting turned around in the woods.

I've got something similar: the speed up/down switch doesnt work on my cruise control. I can still use the other function and engage cruise control with the plunger-button. -I feel like the electric contact might be worn out? Anyone have the part number for this assembly?

Do your brake lights work? I only say this because the cruise control won't work if the brake light fuse is blown. Just something to double check.
