Hey everybody, I'm finally getting new tires for the bananatank and was looking for y'all's opinion on some tires i was looking at. I'm looking for a tire that will be well suited for the daily commute which isn't very far but also a tire which doubles as a offroad/ mud tire. The majority of the time when i go offroad it'll be in mud. I'm also looking for 33's and a pretty cheap tire cause i am still in high school so can't be too pricey. So have any of you guys ever heard of the nankang n889 mustar m/t? Here's a picture has anybody ever run these? (was looking at 305/70r16) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404609851.413120.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1404609856.335538.jpg thanks guys will be getting tires soon so hope to hear back from yall!

They're the only ones to buy retreads from... I did a lot of research on them when I was buying tires but didn't buy them because they were kinda ugly to me

Tires aren't an area to skimp on. Buying a cheap set will cost you in the long run. Whether they wear like sh!t, don't balance for sh!t, or any other issue you could have. I know from experience. I bought a set of general grabber at2s because they were the same tread pattern as the bfg ats. They wouldn't ever balance right and my jeep wobbled down the highway. Really annoying on roads trips. You're gonna get what you pay for. I understand not being able to drop tons of money on tires but your best bet is to save up a few more bucks and go for quality... You may end up buying 2 cheap sets for 1 good set.

X2 to what digglesworth just said. Not a good idea to skimp on tires for a lot of reasons.

Yes i agree i was also looking at the cooper st maxx and the cooper stt's but then i noticed these tires they were being over looked so i went and researched them and they have some pretty good reviews from a bunch of jeep guys. I'm just trying to find a good tire for some offroad and street use i don't go far to school so i can get a m/to and wear won't be a huge problem for such little mileage i out on them. These tires had good reviews from what I have seen but i was wondering if any of you guys have ran them on your h3 or on anything? Thanks

Don't buy expensive tires that wear out quick (mud grapplers) my heart hurts everytime I look at them only 800 miles and tread is wearing out like crazy [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

Oh yeah for those you can probably find them on other websites for lower prices and discount tires will match the price... You might be able to find some 35s in the low 200s and they'll match it

I understand that sentiment - but it's not universally true. I had Toyo MT's on my H3 prior to my Kumho tires - with 20,000 miles, they still had a real 50% (not including lower than the wear bear) left. Yeah, they're twice as expensive as the Kumho's but they do last a long time.... I've had similar experiences with Dunlop and Kelly tires (both in 35" tall tires)

I was saying don't buy expensive tires that wear out quick like mud grapplers, super swampers, you get what I'm saying... Toyo mt are expensive but they're great tires and have awesome tread life that's why so many people buy them. I'm kinda regretting buying mud grapplers I knew they had awful tread life but I thought they would wear alittle bit better but no...

Tread Depot shows Kumho MT KL71's and Cooper S/T's under $200, right at $200 would get you some really good, aggressive A/T's like the Kelly TSR's, Cooper S/T Max and STT. The older, cheaper full-on mud tires are gonna be squirrely in the rain, I would go with the hybrid A/T for all around performance and still work well in the mud (and look the part).

the issue with the tires I have on the vehicle, they're unidirectional; so you can't rotate them normally - so I just bought a random, new mud tire.... close enough for the stuff I do.
