What are some best mods for the money? I'm still high school so money's kinda tight, but I wanna do a few mods to my 3.

What do you guys suggest?

Right now I have t bar cranked and straight pipe. I'm gonna get new wheels and tires soon. Looking to add a light bar and snorkel.

But what else do you guys think I should do?

Maybe a little more specificity would help. Mods for what exactly? Mall crawling, wheeling, more hp, more fuel eco.... Etc. that would help narrow it down for everyone. Btw You came to the right place for suggestions on all of the above.

Lol I wheel it

(was stuck for 14hours, and ice froze over next day)

But yeah I will definitely try to get some rock panels and ubp... I think the brush guard looks kinda ugly on the 3 and I'll never use them.

What are some wheeling and performance mods you guys suggest?

And I hate mall crawlers... What's the point of owning a hummer or jeep if your not gonna wheel with it. Grinds my gears

Good call bro. Ucp for sure, rock rails, more hp via the bolt on mods. I recommend the Efan. Besides the tune it got me the most hp and fuel Eco for my $. After a year it will have paid for its self with the mpg savings. Bigger tires will require more hp so those types of mods kinda go hand I'm hand if you don't want to lose drivability. And winches are a must for back country wheeling.

I wouldn't worry about rims and tires. Go with everyones suggestions. You gotta protect key areas first. Otherwise your money will be spent fixing things. Ucp, sliders, and a steering rack kit would be first on my list... Maybe a cb if you wheel in groups. Recovery gear for sure. A decent trail kit with tools and some spares (cv shaft, tie rod, etc).... Then you can start working on the other stuff but you gotta have the basics first. An airdoc intake and pcm tune are good for some extra power and won't break the bank.

For the PCM tunes do you buy just the code or is it like a actual tuner you plug in to your 3. I looked on the PCM tunes for less website and still confused. Sorry if that sounded like a dumb question

You send out your PCM and TCM to them and they return them with the tune

How long does it usually take for them to ship it back? I live only 4 hours away from them. And do any of you guys have it installed? And how are you liking it?

I like it a lot. My Speedo is still off a few mph even after they were supposed to calibrate it for the 35s.... everything's great though. I think I was without my truck for like 5 days. Only being 4hrs away, I'd plan a day to just go get it done. Well worth it and you'll save time without your truck.

Was it a noticeable gain in hp?

I did it the same time I put 35s on so it ran pretty much the same as stock with 33s. That's all I wanted it to do... offset the drain 35s put on the truck. Shift points helped with deliverability... I do have the 3.5 so there may be a little more noticeable gain with the 3.7.... I could really use those extra 24hp the 3.7 has vs the 3.5....

Yep, UCP and some good rock rails... Nice too know you can come down on rocks and not have to wince and wonder.... I am getting some 35's this week and want to get the tune, but I cant go without my truck so me sending mine out to get tuned is out of the question right now... Keep us up to date on the mods..

Protection first, your own insur plan. Rims...Do you really need them or is it just the look...Tires , yes an other mods, that get you through it what your doin then. Lookin good in the middle of trail or on the side of the road, isn't good.

As an old guy to a young guy...Learn, protection for your rig an yourself. Learn how it works, an enjoy...Oh, chicks too...

UCP and rock rails. Can't stress this enough. Then recovery gear and spares. Everything else is aesthetic bullish!t for the most part. As long as you have the previous stuff you can wheel with peace of mind, and enjoy your rig while you order all the rest of the crap and bolt it on. I went mostly backwards, and regret it, especially when I got stuck and pretty much jack sh!t other than the aid of a kind and generous rancher who pulled me out. Was a close shave and a generous helping of humble pie. Learn from my mistakes!

and yes, that's me in the last pic by the driver tire laying in the mud scooping it out of my A arms and from under my skid plate to break suction because the mud was so thick it wouldn't come off the shovel. Had to dig by hand for about 12hrs in the middle if BFE. Zoom in close, my face says it all LOL! Funny now, not so much at the time!
