Ahh! That's the bully dog H3. a lot went into that truck. I think they sold it for 45k a few years ago. Not bad at all. The dash cluster was custom as the stock one wouldn't work. The front end had a SA conversion. A lot of work and a sweet truck id take it. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the shifters being next to the cupholders. I understand that it would be extremely tough to get it to work like factory but it would of looked cleaner.

:whaa:what.....! only for 45k... uh... a lot of sweat and works, and the spirit. If I were the owner, I would keep it.
I might go either 6.0 or diesel in the future. XD

That article is pretty bad.

I really liked the truck, except the dash replacement, seemed like they went the easy way out and didn't deliver a finished product.

Article was from December '07

I know it almost sold a couple of times, but folks backed out. Not sure what the deal is - but I bet if I saw it in person or drove it, I could tell you. As of Feb the original owner still had it.

Doesn't the H3 have a diesel option in Europe?

I'd rather have the motor intended for the truck than a MUCH heavier duramax I'd think. I SOOOOO wish they made a DSL H3 here, that would turn what is a marginal/ less than ideal toy (on road I mean) into a thing of beauty!! A diesel along the lines of the 3.0 that goes in a sprinter would be amazing in this thing!! (did a few searches, can't find which dsl that they put in it)

I've heard the new jeep grand cherokee will be coming with a dsl option... not sure what the aversion to a better motor that lasts longer, makes more power, and gets better mileage is in this country, but the H3 is the only non diesel 4 stroke I own!

Theoretically you could swap in the hemi pistons and then adjust the spark plugs, valving, etc. Im not sure how well that would work tho

Im probably alk wrong here tho.

It look like it still has that 6 lug hubs? I thought anytime you put and diesel in you had to upgrade the whole power train to take the new power?

If they put a longer lasting engine in. Then they'd have to design a truck that'd last longer.
i.e. The current I-5 is designed to go 300,000 miles (designed, not what it will actually do). So the truck is only designed to last say 250,000. If you install a motor that will go 1 million miles. You now need to design the truck to last much longer. Also there is the associated spare parts stock that will become a problem.

I was talking to a dodge owner awhile back. His pickup had the cummins engine. Which with care will go one million miles. But the dash was falling apart, wires were falling down under the dash, and the paint was peeling badly at less than 50,000 miles.

So why put a million mile engine in a 75,000 mile truck? You don't make money that way.

It looks cool, but I wonder if it will stay cool if it's being worked hard. Frankly, a 4BT/ISB Cummins would be a far better fit and would have all the power you could ever need. And get better fuel economy. And be cheaper.

Please go on with the 4BT/ISB Cummins.
