Here are a couple pictures of the Cooper S/T's I was talking about. Pictured is a 305/70R16 (33X12.5) and as you can see its smack dab in between an AT and MT.
We have several customers with Cooper S/T's that have 40K and a couple that have got almost 50K. The average I have seen is high 30's or low 40's and end up getting replaced because there not quite good enough for winter. Not sure what you did to only get 10k out of them but my guess is pressure, rotation, alignment, balance or a combination of them all. My 285’s had 5k on them when I sold them and there was no measurable wear.I had the cooper st on my old durango they were great in the winter but the tread wear was terrible they were almost smooth when I sold it with about 10k miles on them...

Little louder then an AT but not as loud as an MT. They do growl a little at 55 but its not that bad. You don't feel the lugs like you would expect (or like you would with an MT) for such an aggressive tread pattern but the tread is tighter then an MT, so they don't clean as well in the mud (but its still much better then an AT in the mud). Wet road manor is slightly better then an MT but under really heavy breaking on wet roads they can tend to trigger the ABS but its minimal. I never tried mine in the snow but we have several customers running them year round and I haven’t heard a single complaint. The only complaint I have would be that they only have a 2 Ply sidewall and they lack of side bitters but you (and I) still have to remember there not an MT. The new ST MAXX has a 3 Ply sidewall and a little more aggressive sidewall but the sizes are very limited (just 265's and 285's, no 305 or 315's yet). Would I run them again? In a heart beat!:agree: I don't remember seeing those in the past.
How were the road mannerisms on those meats, for those of you who have had them.
Goodyear MT/R's with Kevlar are somewhat between an AT and MT tire IMO, and would be a good choice. I ran the Dick Cepek FC-II's which are also an AT/MT hybrid and they worked well both on the street and off road.
How did you like the Dick's? Those are one on my option list. Rain and pavement? Sand? Rocks?
Kelly TSR, made in USA. Siping, large voids, good on and off road.

I found that these actually handle better than the Duratracs on road in corners and are smoother and quieter to boot! I think the Duratracs cut through standing water a little better, but I didn't get much rain driving in with them in CenTex to really compare the two.
