While I'm waiting for superchips to get back to me regarding the Flashpaq, and the container from Auz to reach our shores so I can get my Snorkel i was contemplating changing the exhaust system.

1st question - is it worth while to do the branches/headers/manifold or just keep to stock?
2nd question - exhaust system, what diameter to use? how to mitigate the flat/oval section in the stock exhaust?
3rd question - decat? i woud like a more throaty sound under full bore acceleration, but still would like the silence of the stock exhaust when cruising or towing my trailer
4th question - heat wrapped/ceramic coating of complete exhaust sytem from branches/headers/manifold to end?

I will definately change the single exhaust tip to dual.
I will have them route the exhaust a bit tifferently as to enable the future add on of a 2nd fuel tank

Hey Sennin, Im kind of going the same route on my H3T alpha. Im going to keep the stock manifolds on the truck pricewise I dont really see a benefit of getting headers. I am going to have a shop remove the last 2 cats since they do not have 02 sensors. I am looking at a magna flow muffler to keep the sound down but when you get on it it will sound like a V8.

After some online research, I also came to the conclusion of leaving the headers alone.

So I will have the stock headers heat wrapped, and then have a custom exhaust fitted. Now to get some quotes :corn:

Thats why I will gladly pay for the workshop doing the exhaust to also wrap the headers, my massive hands wont be able to fit in there at all

I just purchased the GM Performance exhaust for my T alpha and it sounds the same as stock until u get on it.. That's when u get that nice throaty sound!!! Something u might be interested in. I paid $319.00 for the product, tax, and shipping!!!

I would love to get a GM performance exhaust but with shipping and customs charges it would work out at least 3X the price. Thus forcing me to go local

I installed a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler to the factory pipe (it's pretty big, about 3 1/4" if I remember correctly) with a new 3 1/2" tail pipe and I think it sounds great; throaty but not loud. It also helped with reducing the floor board heat mainly because the factory muffler is so big and restrictive. I think the next step may be to remove the resonator for a little additional sound and maybe a bit more reduction in heat. I would like to put a set of headers on but I don't know of anyone making a decent set.

Just a quick updated.

Had Viper performance branches installed (and powder coated) as well as dual free flow 63mm exhausts made. Its a monster sound at slow speed but at cruising speed the Kumho KL71 tyres is the only thing you hear

Must say I should have done this waaay sooner

Where did you get the new headers from? I wasnt able to find any for the Alpha! Did you notice an increase in performance overall?

Im also looking at an exhaust that keeps sound low when cruising but sounds great when I step on it.
