A cheaper alternative is to just get the muffler and have the local shop weld it in place. Much cheaper alternative. Got mine at Jegs.

And if you're going to wheel you don't want those fancy exhaust tips hanging below the bumper.

Ok, thanks guys, im torn, what exhaust do you have alrock? and I like the sound of the magnaflow, but the tips stick out a lot for off roading, do they have removable tips? and cbetts you think I am better off welding the exhaust instead of the clamps?

My GM Performance Exhaust has a fancy tip that would have stuck down under the bumper and get destroyed off road, but it was designed to be clamped onto the stock tailpipe so I just left it off.

Here is a picture of the muffler in the box with the tip next to it.

The GM Performance exhaust has removable tips (actually sold without tips) and is made by Borla. The touring system would give you the mellow sound you are after. The system (without tips) list for $1002. I actually got mine off eBay a while back and paid 85% off list.

The GM Performance exhaust has been discontinued and Borla is having a clearance sale on them right now for $368.55 (cheaper than the Magnaflow). You can also buy the tips separate (3 style available and there all embossed with the H3 logo) and can remove them before offroading (this is what I plan on doing).

Sound clips for both the Touring & Perfomance exhaust systems can be found here

I paid $128.99 for my Magnaflow muffler. Shop installed it for around $30. Much cheaper and faster than getting a full exhaust and fighting to get it on.

Magnaflow muffler at Jegs

If you decide to go this route, make sure you measure everything first and find the one that matches your application best.

I have the Gibson, as does cbetts. Bolt on tips. I'm not a fan of my exhaust but cbetts likes his.

The Gibson tends to drone a bit inside since it deletes the resonator. Also, since I run a manual transmission, I tend to have lower RPMs and the Gibson helps the engine acquire more power at the bottom end.

Over time, I have had my truck in the muffler shop many time to have the exhaust repaired. First problem was the axle hitting the pipes on maximum flexing.

I also bashed in my tips, just like Alex.

Another trip to the shop got me some custom tips.
