I set aside the week the August 27th to September 4th. I can move it up, but I can promise the trail will be very quiet the week before Labor Day weekend because all the Kids are back in school :giggle:
Chris, you may be able to ride along your first time out. This is the Rubicon, rated a 10 out of 10 or a 5 out of 5. The 4:1 is a must.
The Reason it is called the Rubicon is that once you go in, there are no bail outs or shortcuts. You either finish or turn around. Either way, if your junk breaks - it's a long, brutal haul out. The Rubicon is 22 miles long. It's like Golden Spike three times (hence 3 days) with no breaks between obstacles.
From Wiki:
The
idiom "
Crossing the Rubicon" means to pass a
point of no return, and refers to
Julius Caesar's army's
crossing of the river in
49 BC, which was considered an act of
insurrection.
If anyone has a site I can host a movie on, I made one after my second trip, I can post it up for you all to see what you're getting into.
It's not that bad, but I should have listed a fair amount of experience is required as well. To keep your rig in one peice, you can't be making rookie mistakes, they will cost the whole group. I'm not saying anyone who has stepped up is a rookie, I'm just sayin.
Now - again there are a few options, we can run the Wentworth Springs to Loon Loop, Loon Lake to Spider Lake and back out Wentworth Springs/Airport Flats the red and black sections on the Southwest section of the map (a good run for first timers).
Here is the Map
After giving you all the facts, there is one thing you really need to know:
It's the Most Beautiful place on Earth.
