FrontLeft.3.jpgPicked up an '09 Alpha w/ off road package in PA. Got quickly acquainted with a 2200 mile drive home in 2 days. Looking forward to some fun drives once I get it trail ready.

Amazing find! How long did it take you to find that? Seems like you got the cream of the crop

I looked nationwide for a couple of months. The salesperson thought I was messing with him when I told him I was in Utah. He was still in disbelief when I picked it up. Hard to explain the H3 bug to everyone that doesn’t already have it.

When I went to buy my H3, they didn't even know what they had. The Salesman started freaking out when I put the H3 in 4-LO and engaged the lockers, made the tire bark to test it out. I wanted to feel the wheels bind to know it was working properly. That salesman had no idea what they were selling me. After signing, I told him that it was a special ordered H3. That it had both the Adventure Package and also the Lux Package. Funny how many times I had to tell H3 owners on the forums in the past that my vehicle is real and has both packages. All in all, that salesman kept telling me it was a "Mike Ditka vehicle" during the test drive and when I was signing. I have Mike Ditka's sons H3 Hummer, which is cool, not really a selling point. However I couldn't give a ****, I just wanted leather heated power everything, premium sound with subwoofer, and most importantly the locking transfer case and locking rear differential.

Let's be honest guys... the H3 is the true replacement for the Cherokee. Sure the front-end isn't a solid axle, but no one is going to stuff 35 inches tires on a factory XJ either.

Anyway, I get it... I'd search far and wide for the right vehicle. I mean I got to deal with that thing for the next 6 years of my life. What's two days of my life to chase down the right one?

According to the dealer, there are only 50 H3 alphas sold in the GCC, with the majority being in the UAE. Me working here in Qatar, had to stay on the lookout for 2 years before I found one for sale at the end of 2012. Buyer didn't budge on price and all I wanted was that Alpha! Love it!

After searching on ebay and craigslist for an entire year... I found these beauties for $200:

Already mounted them up. They look really good.

To anyone still looking: THERE IS HOPE! You just need patience and to search every now and then.

Your not only lucky to have found ‘em for sale, but they do not look sun fades or cracked. And to top it off they were only $200?! You should buy lottery tickets with that amount of luck!

Did you do anything special to it to make sure it doesn't blow-off on the highway? I saw mine has a bunch of silicone on the front and was wondering if there's anything else I should do to make sure it doesn't doesn't fly away one day.

Just something that happens at some point. They get sun baked after a while and just get brittle. That's why I've never put them on mine. They look good but I don't want to deal with fixing riv nut holes in the roof in 6 or 8 years.

I haven't yet but I will soon. If you take a look at the second page of my build thread I show every step of my install process. I am thinking of adding some silicone or something like that. Has anyone else thought of a good way to to make sure they never fly off?

Fair. But I think I might be able to get another in that time frame

Need to contact one of those chinese clone manufacturing plants, could make a small fortune if you were sitting on 500 sets of them. :)

I put metal flat washers under the bolts on mine. Grabs more of the plastic then the little surface area of the bolts
