What causes this? Should I buy new rotors and pads?

There is corrosion all along the outside edge of my front passenger side rotor.

My driver's side rotor is nice and shiny...

I bought the truck with around 46k miles on it, and now have 52k. I haven't had any issues with them other than that rotor looks different from the other one...

Normal. The pads don't engage the entire rotor and that is just normal rust that is not getting cleaned off by the pads. If your pads are good and you don't have any pulsations, I wouldn't worry about it. Good Luck

I agree; edge corrosion is not a problem. I hope that the visible scoring is superficial.

I don't have factory wheels so someone correct me if I'm wrong:
That looks like what happens when you use chrome wheel cleaner on clear-coated wheels.
You should treat clear coated wheels the same as the rest of your painted car - warm soap and water - don't use anything that isn't pH neutral.
Wheel cleaners contain acids.

Just saying - I'm a mechanic and have had customers ask me to try and fix that before.

So I went to the dealer and the guy told me that the oe rotors are better than the AC delco professional rotors. Is this true? He quoted me $114 per rotor lol. I found them on Amazon for $69

Eta: $86 for the ceramic pads.. Amazon has them for like $42

AC Delco is the OE. GM Owns AC Delco.

Also, I just realized you were talking about the rotors and not your wheels in the post.
My apologies.
Rotors are made of cast iron and they's get pitted like that - nothing to worry about as long as it isn't pitted where your pads are making contact.

I understand that part... they have different tiers of rotors.. like advantage, professional, and oe. The guy said oe is the best. Is this true?

I remember one guy told me that oe is in the middle and professional is the best. I just want to make sure I get the best rotors without spending an arm and a leg so I wanna stick with ac delco... just don't know which ones to go with oe.. or professional.

I'm extremely happy with my Power Stop setup on my Alpha. When my wife's H3 is due for Rotors/Pads I'll be going with Power Stop again.

Those grooves in your rotor where the pads make contact will ruin new pads.
You will probably get pulsing as they wear into those grooves.

Some rotors they will not turn anymore, too thin.

Old school shop can dress them just enough to smoothe them out, but that is your call.
They would need to be measured with a mic to make sure they are usable.
