Some photos of my Trailer Camper Build.

Started life as an Australian Defence Force trailer built by ARB.

My conversion designed it to be like a base camp (Water, Power, Provisions, etc.) but the OZTENT (30 second tent) on top can come out easily if I need to venture out.

The kitchen on the front has 200Ah Battery Bank, WAECO Fridge Freezer, & associated power supplies & lighting.

I also have 9Kg (24lb) Gas Bottle & 80 Litre (21 GAL) water tanks underneath with pump & locking water cap.

The Aluminium cover over the tent has hydraulic struts that self open & self support so the tent set up is less than a minute.

The Kitchen cover designed same height as tent covers that I can carry a boat on top if I need to.

Cheers guys............ Re the weight I had to put it on a weighbridge to register it. From memory it was 400Kg but probably 500Kg now (1070 - 1340lb) & is registered t carry 2000Kg (5360lb) but could carry a lot more.

Re: the batteries & fridge (photos below) I wanted the ability to take the fridge out easily (so I can use in Hummer when I don't take the trailer). I found the fridge was a neat fit in the toolbox that I converted into a kitchen as it rested against the top tray. I just use the insulated cover on the fridge as paddng. So that covered front to back & with the side to side I left the fridge handles on which keeps it off the RHS (& allows enough room for the 12v power board & lead). On the LHS I use an OEM fixed fridge mount & riveted it to the floor. So with the fridge & power point sorted I worked on the batteries. I got 2 x 100Ah narrow AGM (they use these ones as backup power in telephone switchboards) as it utilized the narrow space behind the fridge (the AGM don't gas & good long term storage) & I just used angle aluminium riveted to the floor to hold them in place.

Hey Skippy, no its still the plan to sell my H3, just that I realized I need to sell the trailer first while I still have the Hummer to tow it !!!! (Who knows I may find someone looking for both)

Anyhow while I was going through the photos I thought would share my trailer build experience & good to see it is helpful for some folks for ideas.

It was one of the features that I love........... The suspension is tucked up in the side so less likely to be damaged & increases the ground clearance as well.

I have been told it is the same setup as railway bogies & some of the new tanks.

Link above is a video of its first creek crossing which really shows the wheel articulation (& keeps the load level)
