So one of my tpms is malfunctioning and its causing my rear drivers side tire to leak. Can these be replaced without unmounting the tire or do i need to take it to a shop?

You could technically only break the bead on the front side of the tire to replace the sensor. I have an manual tire machine I would never use it to change the tires on aluminum rims. But I could break the bead and swap the sensor without scratching the rim.

Just got a new set of 285 Bridgestone Duelers (OEM) and I am putting my spare into the rotation this time. They are being discontinued so if I want my spare to match on my next set I will have to buy 5 anyway so why not use it up. I just orded a sensor and grommet from gmpartshouse. The sensor is $50.00 and the grommet is $4.99.

If the valve is leaking, I would start by taking it out and cleaning it or replacing it. Worth the $1 to replace it before messing with changing the whole sensor.
