H3 Tire Help

Wanna get rid of my Kevlar LT315/75R16. Need a great tire for snow and sand....................please help decide. Goodyear on truck now, will change manufactures

BF Goodrich AT is a great tire on the dunes, with great performance on pavement. Don't know how it fares in snow, but those tires never let me down when driving my underpowered 3.0 L Montero, I took them very deep into the desert and could always get myself out of sticky situations without leaving my seat.

Currently have cooper discoverers on my H3, never got stuck in the sand with these either and I love them, but I still miss the amount of control I had with the BFs when I'm driving on the edge of a dune.

Never tried the MT versions of these though, hope this helps.

I can only share my experience so take it for what it is worth.
I'm actively in some of the crudiest, ice covered, blizzard covered road during the winter months at all hours days and nights and have run numerous sets of tires.
*Interco super swampers siped and cut
- great tire for deep snow.... Ice nope!
*Good year gsa, Wrangler, etc..
- sucked on rainy streets lol... Forget snow or ice
* Good Year Sra
- sucked on standing water and poor balancing
*Hankook dynapro
- ok tire
*Patagonia Geo star a/t
- nice tire pretty darn good for a Chinese tire

*Nokian rottiiva a/t 265/75-16
- wow! Great tire... I did a tone of research on tires and put these on 07 H3, 06 H3, 01 Jeep xj
Fantastic tire. Last winter first year with them and very few times needing to go to 4 lo or 4 hi.

I would steer away from BFG AT in the snow, they have a tendency to cut throught the snow which is great for powder but for a plowed road they kinda just slide off. I have some cheap Hancook Dynapro AT and they were great for powder, ice, and compacted snow. They seem to be a really soft compound because mine are 2-3 years old and are wearing pretty good. Great for traction though.

However, everyone has their own driving style and therefore need different tires to match accordingly.

I have been running COOPER DISCOVERER S/T MAXX 10 ply kevlar and couldn't be happier with them. Most of my travels are on highways but performed excellent in the recent waves of ice & snow that we've just had. I've put 40,000 miles on them and they still look good.

I have heard good things about the Cooper Discoverer ST tires. My 06 came with a brand new set of the Goodyear/Wally-world Wrangler Authority tires in the 265-75-16 size. While they have been good in all types of weather, my concern is that with the weight of the H3, a higher number ply rating would be better. Next set of tires will be 10 ply and in the 33" size range.
