I found that Moog has 2 sets of part numbers for the tie rods for the H3, 2006 and all later years. EV800584 & ES800763 are for the 06 and EV800609 & ES800762 for the later years. Has anyone ordered and checked the size of the first 2? Are they the 14mm or 16mm. My emails to Moog and Federal Mogul have gone unanswered. I guessing I'll play it safe and order the tie rods for the later years.

The '06 model will be the 14mm variant and the others will 16mm. Not sure why you would not want to upgrade to the new model.

The GM models are easy to distinguish. the 14mm are silver and 16mm are black.

I am upgrading. I just wanted to make sure. Thought that only the larger version was available similar to the CV's. Doesn't make sense to make two parts when one is better and fits both and price difference is negligible.

I have several spares that I carry if you are concerned about the LCC run on the 18th. I bent my right tie rod on this very trail, but it was the factory 14mm.

I am prepping for a major front end rebuild this summer. Gathering all the parts now, tie rods, ball joints, Alpha T bars, CV's, seals, hubs, rotors, pads, & anything else I can come up with. Only want to tear the front end apart once.

You realize replacing the entire rack is much easier, right? Just open the box and bolt It on. It comes with 16mm rods (inner & outer), and they are always spot-on and need little to no adjustment. If you only want to do it once...do the whole thing.

Replacing individual steering components is a wrestling match and the cost of separate pieces is probably not worth the savings. IMO Unless it's a trail fix...not worth the hassle. This also why GM service usually replaces the whole thing...It's cheaper.

Also, the tie rods almost always out-last the rack anyway. The rack is the weak link....not the ends. I've replaced many split racks with perfectly good ends. I carried an entire trail-spare rack for this reason (back when I had an IFS). BTW...I have a used (46K miles), 09 rack if you are interested...$150 complete.
