I was told I need new Tbars after Rancho lift was installed. After lift was installed he said he lowered it and the front end needed to be raised. He then tried to crank Tbars and said there maxed out. Is this common? Is there any quick fixes? Also, where do I find them quickly? Thanks

I was ready to pickup tomorrow and just got the call...Grrr

Mi haven't heard of this maybe he installed them wrong...when my lift was installed the bars were barely twicked to have the proper height. But pretty sure someone with more experience here would comment. And Online or your local dealer is your best bet for the T-Bars go with the alpha T-bars if you are going to get new bars. If you were closer I'd let you have my old ones for free. I upgraded to alpha tbars and have the old ones as spare.

Sounds like he either re-installed the keys incorrectly or reversed the t bars and put them on the wrong side, as they are side specific.

X2 on not installing correctly the whole point of the rancho is to eliminate pressure and stress on front end by returning keys back to stock ride height.

He may have the keys wrong. You should barely be able to screw them in when the bolt is all the way through the hole.

Tell your mechanic to check the two Rancho torsion bar relocators. These are cellphone-sized castings that plug into the lower control arms....

They are side-specific, and labeled RH and LH. The hex-shaped holes are indexed to match the RH & LH torsion bars, and also the RH & LH keys. The entire front end of the H3 can be assembled with all this stuff on the wrong side. The symptom you are describing is exactly what happens when you get them wrong...you run out of threads before you reach the correct ride height.

Its very easy to tell if you got something backwards...because during re-assembly, you will be able to easily start the torsion bolt into the key with plenty of extra threads. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THIS. With all the components installed on the proper sides...you should have great difficulties getting the torsion bolts started into the keys. It will appear at first, that the bolts are not long enough...so the natural reaction is to swap parts around RH for LH...eventually finding a combination of parts where the torsion bolts easily start threading into the keys, and all is well. Until you try to reach ride-height....then you end up with the problem you are describing. The solution for this issue is to use a tool called a "torsion key clamp". Its basically a large C-clamp that is used to pull the keys down into their proper position before you can even get the bolts started...

This tool essentially pre-loads the torsion bar, so you then have enough threads to adjust the ride height. You'll know when its right because the arms of the torsion keys will be sitting "flat" (or near flat) in their cradles at proper ride-height. If they are at extreme angles...something isn't right. Technically...you should always use a clamp to adjust the keys, and run the bolt in or out only after you have settled on the correct ride height. The threads on the torsion bolts are there for final adjustment...and not meant to pull an un-assembled torsion system into its usable range. Failure to use a clamp can result in the torsion bolt threads galling and seizing to the key. This is a horrific issue (been there), and it can easily be avoided by using a TB-clamp.

Problem fixed. It was dirt and rock, Moab red, packed around everythin, stopping any more adjustments. Its all done and back home. The lift is and looks great. Very happy

Thanks everyone for your quick response. I will post pics, when I find my camera
