Swapping in a 6 speed transmission.

I know the 08-09 h2's had 6 speed transmissions in them and the previous ones did not. I am wondering how difficult it would be to do this swap, and if it would be beneficial at all, also looking at cost. This would be going into an 07 h2.

It would help with ur mpg if that 6th gear was longer than your 5th gear now and this makes me think do they have a 6speed that would bolt up to the 06 I5?

Yea its for an H2 . I didnt think it would be too hard, just double checking that one can be easily mated to the existing engine and that it would fit between the frame and cross members correctly.

I believe it has been discussed before and the consensus was that the mechanical install would not be too bad but the transmission controller and programming would be a nightmare as it uses a different system then the 4l65e/ 03-07 year fullsize

The 08-09 tcase is different than the 07 and below. Also the rear prop shaft is different. These aren't much to worry about, just another expense. Biggest problem will be electronics, that is going to be a nightmare.

Everyone in every part of the country has people who do tuning.

Your mods are only limited by the size of your wallet. :)

Google "Mark Romans Tuning - he's our local guy who does everything GM when it comes to computers.

I'm sure there is one in your area.

My thoughts also - if you could get a donor drive train you'd be laughing... just swap everything.

Ideally this is what I want - I want the 03-07 interior with the 08-09 drivetrain.

Actually, forget that; I want a 6.6 turbo diesel...

That's what Mark Roman does - he programs computers from different GM components and vehicles to talk to each other. We put in 2006 Escalade Motor with a TH700R4 and he gets it to work. He works on all kinds of "transplants" if you know what I mean. Google his name and you'll see many accolades, not just tuning, but figuring, configuring and re-configuring.
