New neighbors in 5 houses of the 13 on my street right now there are about 30 kids running around so I'm making less noise but I'm stopping for the night my friends leaving for school this week and were all going to hang out one last time for the summer axle is ready to be taken out and welded up tomorrow! Hans I haven't forgotten about the deavers...sorry I've not had a chance to pm u yet.

Chopping hangers...They hang up too much on rocks. With the new ones I will gain about 4 inches of clearance!

I also found out why I've been having driveline vibration at 70 mph WITH the spring under, a rock met my rear driveshaft and I've got a nice dent in it lol

Gonna have some breakfast then stop at home depot to pick up some extra cut off wheels and the fun continues!

Wait until you get done before you mess with the rear driveshaft. More than likely, you'll have to get a longer one made. Just last week, I took my stock rear shaft to my driveline guy to get it lengthened, and he said that the tube is a metric size...sort of difficult to find extra material. He also said it is much thinner-walled than the typical 4x4 shaft that he sees. So, instead he built me a new one using standard SAE-sized tubing. It is a slightly smaller OD than the stock shaft but it has a thicker-wall. He cut my stock shaft apart, put the ends in a lathe and turned them down slightly, to fit the smaller SAE tube. Stuck it all together...welded it up...balanced it...put new Spicers in it...and wa-lah! All is good.

lol, I was so happy I got the gas tank out I told my brother to take a picture...I was gonna give the tank the middle finger but didnt do it. Its really not that hard just a PITA to disconnect everything with the tank on your stomach and your reaching around blind pulling things.

I didnt tell the story yet but I guess this time is better then ever. I almost lost my damn leg yesterday and I thank God because someone was watching over me. I swore I choked the wheels and put on the e brake but I guess I didnt. I was pulling the rear driveshaft and it wouldnt come out easy. I take a pry bar and pry the bastard out as I do that it starts rolling right towards my leg and right as its starting to hit my leg I shove my other leg by the spring hanger to stop it. Luckily I did and cut my leg up pretty bad but no hospital visit. I was kinda pist when my dad is yelling at my brother to help pull the car off of me and hes screaming one minute I need to pause my video game. Talk about a sense of urgency...Im fine and still walking but you gotta be careful wrenching especially in the driveway.

There is NEVER a dull moment in this house between the 4 kids and with 1 who goes out to get intentionally pepper sprayed, ER visits due to work on the car and the occasional sports injury. :roll:

Chris it is never a dull moment around you that is for sure. You should always do a check around your work area before you start and make sure brake is on tires are blocked and you have your " I have fallen and I cant get up button".

Whatever you do don't loose those bolts:giggle:.

Looking good...half way there. Cuttin off the front hangers is the worst part...after that, you're home free.

On the driveshaft-prybar thing...
If the H3 is like a Jeep (and it probably is), there is no true lock when you put the tranny in "Park". That is...there is no physical lock on the driveshaft to keep the vehicle from rolling. Instead it simply locks the two driveshafts together. Since they turn opposite directions, the vehicle cannot roll if all four tires are on the ground. However, as you found out...once you pop one of the driveshafts loose, you essentially remove the lock and the vehicle is free to roll. The same can happen when you raise both rear or both front wheels. The fact that all four wheels are on the ground is the only reason you have "Park". So, always use chalks when working on 4wd trucks...the traditional 2wd rules sometimes don't apply. Glad you're okay...could've been a horrible day.

Thanks guys! I have one hanger off and ran out of cut off wheels now I'm off to home depot to buy 15 lol I wish I had a plasma cutter or oxy right now. Half the day was wasted driving places

I just used your story as a lesson for my son that video games first is not the best policy. If we were a truck stopped dead in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", I believe he would miss the whole thing while playing video games on his iTouch.:bc3:

Got the new hangers tacked in! What a great addition is clearance going to weld em in tomorrow and then set pinion angle the goal is to have her on the ground tomorrow and then have her driving by Tuesday
