It is probably the best place in town, but pricey.

It is expensive! Bought dinner for the group one year. I wasn't that impressed. It does have a bar which is pretty close to where the majority of the group stays. La Casita has excellent Mexican food. Small place though for a big group. Then there's always the BBQ place Craig likes. It's good food and good for the size if group we have. Breakfast, best place is Jacks. You might even skip lunch after that

Will defer to the group; love Mexican food!

Things are looking bad in the Sierras right now. There is a big fire on the west side of the the Sierras just west of Bishop. :link:

The Forest Service evacuated Rock Creek Campground, which lies very close to Wheeler Ridge. I am planning on waiting another week before making a decision on cancelling this trip.

Stay tuned . . .

I hope not; my first Bishop trip

Nobody will be as disappointed as me. Bishop is my home town and I get to wheel on my birthday!

However, I am more concerned with everyone's welfare and safety first. We may end up taking alternative trails instead. I am looking at mapping some trails around Casa Diablo. Hopefully, I can still count on you for the prerun!

I Just got off the phone with Bishop Chris. There are no fire alerts locally around Bishop. Visibility varies depending on the winds. Bishop also got hit by flash floods a couple weeks ago so there may be some rough roads. Westgard was all cleaned up already so that is a good sign. Chris and I both agree to wait until next week before deciding on the final plan for Saturday's trail. If the Sierras are questionable, we will change the trail to Casa Diablo.

The night run may get cancelled depending on the ability to pre-run. If Wheeler is out, I want to run Silver Canyon before attempting it at night.

I had two cancelations due to the fire. Please let me know if you back confirmed coing but will be backing out. If you do not have my phone number, shoot me a PM so I can send it to you.

Well, I more than likely will be making this trip and the pre run Craig. Been a tough last few days, but I need to get out with the group.

So I am officially in with H2.

Good to know. We may have to move your favorite tree during the prerun so you don't customize your tool box again.

I just got off the phone with the Ranger Station. Wheeler Ridge will be open. The fire is 75% contained and is only causing some minor smoke on the Bishop side. I was informed that there may be some washout conditions yet from the flash floods a few weeks ago. Most damage was on the eastern slopes of the White Mountains which may impact the Silver/Wyman Canyon run. Preruns will be made to insure everyone's safety.

I'm 50/50 on the trip, Franco may come up with me this weekend but we won't know for sure yet.

I went to a few places out in Nevada and across the Mojave national preserve and the trucks got a few issues I need to fix, my compressor stopped working so I have no CTIS at the moment, and a few other minor things, If I can track down and fix those before friday I'll be there friday night.

Yah we should be able to prerun with ya.

Mike

How early do you anticipate being up there? We may need to also run Silver/Wyman canyon that day. There may be some washed-out areas coming down Wyman canyon. I suppose we can wing it and just turn the group around if it gets bad, but I would like to know in case someone needs to leave early and wants to take the 168 out.

Good luck Craig! I wish I could make this run. I'd bring shovels and my DeWalt cordless reciprocating saw to help with the brush clearing. I have cut and hauled 16 loads of brush this year and yesterday I hauled a load of firewood. All cut with my trusty cordless saw.

For some reason I was thinking you would be up there Tomorrow night . . .

Keep to your schedule. Maybe I can talk Bishop Chris to take the run with me Friday morning.

Got the motel for Friday. But can be there earlier Friday if you need....was wondering about how we would pre run both in one day!

They are short trails. We typically stop a lot to take pictures and converse during the regular runs, allowing people to get to know each other better. Just come at your scheduled time. I will work something out.

I think I'll be there on Friday evening. I fixed the outstanding issues on my truck today and I'd like to take it out for 1-2 more trips this month before it goes in for some work and a lift kit.

Lift kit?! Are you competing with Franco now?

No, just a 2" body lift, replace the existing spacers as well and new springs. It'll put the truck at the same ride height as a 2006 Alpha.

One of Francos trucks is in to get a few small things looked at.
