Rancho Binding?

So after 06h3's posts on improving the Rancho setup, I have followed and done each of them with good results, thanks for that Chris!

I recently noticed two things while changing out the passenger side CV that I would see if others with Rancho lifts could check into as well.

It seems that with the steering turned to full lock while at full droop the upper control arm bolt hits the swaybar end link and binds and that the top of the end link contacts the bottom of the upper control arm. Here is a pic showing both:

You can clearly see that there is contact on the top part of the sway bar end link (part with the bushing) and the bottom of the control arm is resting on top. As well you can see that contact has been made with the bolt (down and on the left side of the link) repeatedly and now has caused that gouge on the top of the link.

Anyone else have evidence of this contact?
If so do you have shocks other than the Rancho units?

Obviously if you are able to remove the swaybar end links from each side the problem would be solved.
Or you could trim that bolt down on the side that remains connected and remove the entire link from the opposite side to save some effort.

Or am I the only one with this issue and have other alignment issues to worry about?

Sway bar end link should be on the front side

Ha! That would solve it!

Just one more thing installed wrong when the dealer put it on years ago! Just noticed and fixed the aft bar brackets that were installed wrong this morning!

False alarm!

So I just went out to my truck and checked, the links couldn't be on the other side either, it will interfere with the tie rods.

Thought I would check the Rancho install instructions and it shows the links mounted the same way mine currently sit.

So not sure why I am making contact here and no one else is, I guess I will just take out the sway bar when wheelin' but this has me worried that there is a bigger issue at the root of all this

BTW the bushings look fine and everything is tight when given the shake test

This pic I posted is at full droop, I think thats the bigg difference between yours and mine right now (not saying I don't have anything messed up)

If you have a change could you take the same pic as the first one you posted with the wheel hanging at full droop?

Here you go...I took this one to see how much the front extended to the fullest. And measured it so I can get the longest shock for the travel.

Yeah in sure the front can drop more...with the new bilstein shocks I got coming my way...I believe is 23-4 of extended...06 H3 front traveling is restricted by the rancho shocks and a tad for the sway bar so I should see one I sick next the sway bar and add the new bilsteins

How much full travel would you end up having with a rancho lift and bilstein shocks?

If the shocks are fully used meaning they can fully drop before the cv shaft reaching her maximum down travel perhaps a good 22-23 inches...about 7-8" of travel. Overall depending on how touch the bump stops interfere I wish I had the proper equipment (grinders, welding machines, etc$ to modify the front as to achieve most of its performance.

You may get 8in of wheel travel but not shock travel. You will only get roughly 1-1.5in of uptravel and maybe 3 down at the bumpstop/shock

Ifs wheel travel and shock travel are usually different

Solid axles wheel travel and shock travel are usually more similar in most applications.

Makes perfect sense with the shock being inbound from the wheel 6-8 inches
