we found out that when you are wheeling you should always carry a racket strap!

we were wheeling up a mountain trail when a mate in a 200 series landcrusier rolled two tyres of the rims!

by simply putting the racket strap around the tyre it aloud the tyre to bread therefore enabling us the pump the tyre up.

so i never leave home without one

We use them extensively to build bridges using logs. I've even used them even to simulate control arms/leaf springs after an accident in the Australian outback. Front right side control arms where broken. We used the straps to locate the axle in the right place. Drove 60 miles off road like that. For quality straps like this, we get them at professional stores because the ratings are guaranteed. We get them rated at 1.5x or more the weight of the vehicle, and with hooks on both ends. It's amazing what how many problems you can solve with these things. We carry a minimum of 4, but preferably 6. 4 is the minimum for building a bridge. 6 is better if the bridge is very long. They also are very useful for transport for strapping down the truck. Not all tow/transport companies have quality straps rated for heavier vehicles.

Al, have you found any brand better than others?

I don't remember the brand, but the important thing is to get from a serious establishment and not a Chinese knock off supplier. Go to a place that professionals buy their gear because they need it to be certified to avoid law suits. Suppliers for building awnings and harnesses.
