Zach, LagunaH1 and I set out for Gold Mountain yesterday after Zach set this impromptu trip up the night before. I was hoping I could get some wheeling in during this work trip so this was perfect for me. It was my first time to this trail.

I didn't get too many pictures as with only three trucks we were moving quickly. It only took us 90 minutes from trailhead to the top of the trail, and another 25 minutes to get down to the backside. We took another trail over to John Bull only to find no one at the Gatekeeper. We watched for a while and only one group came through, with one woman doing the Gatekeeper, going up, turning around and rejoining their group for lunch.

The trail was tight in places and the trucks were often pointed at the trees when off camber. I heard a few large branches crack with Laguna's and Zach's trucks.

Totally unrelated to the trail, here's a pic of my drive to Cali. That's torrential rain straight ahead and a dust storm to the right. I got to go through both of them :)

Laguna at the ledge. I guess it was different than before. A boulder was blocking the line on the right so Laguna took this challenging line. I took a much easier line on the far left.

It was a fun day. Thanks to Zach for organizing this and Laguna for coming out.

I didn't get too many pictures either due to the fact we didn't stop much. It was a fun day and got through the trail rather quickly. Thanks to Alex and Mikkel for going on such short notice

What happened to the cedar tree at the ledge? That added the excitement factor.

There is a huge boulder in the way keeping you from running the right side. There were definitely a lot of changes on the trail since we ran it last year

Thanks guys for a really great day out playing in the dirt. The ledge was very very different from last time. It seemed to me that the entire trail had undergone some significant trail maintenance: The ledge was easier than it used to and the rest of the trail was in better overall shape than last time. The right side of the ledge that used to be really fun and challenging was now blocked by a huge boulder that very clearly had been placed there, I'm guessing it was on purpose to dissuade people from taking the real hard line.

Next, I need to figure out what's going on with the front end of the truck: *something* is vibrating differently that it used to and the "thunk" when I get on and off the gas has gotten much more prononuced than it used to be. Hm, I should probably start a tech thread about this in the proper section of the forum :)

I'm watching that Sept 15th date. It all comes down to work for me. If I can get the time off we're there. I'm pulling 12 hour days 7 days a week right now to get two of our EV Class 8 trucks running and it's killing me rather quickly. If we can get away we're there.

Nice pictures guys. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet pics! I see Zach still can't pass the infamous mud hole.

I was thinking the same thing.

How has the trail changed? Is it harder or easier?

Wish I could have made it. I was so close (10 and 215 interchange) but I had a 12' U-Haul in tow and a lot of work to do. Turned out all the help I had lined up backed out so I had to move everything myself. I was really beat by Saturday night.

It wasn't the normal spot, that one didn't have much water. Over by Serge's Technology Center off of the fire road there was a spot with some pretty deep mud.
