I may have to bail on Black Sheep week. :gaah: The wife (H3Wench) lost her job yesterday. We'll decide as it gets closer.

Sorry to hear that!!! I know a few people in that same situation. not fun at all!! Hope se stays positive and finds something soon....after a short time to "recharge."

If you all will accept a guy from the East Coast, then go ahead and add me to the list as a potential.

Make that two east coasters... although I'm more 50-50 between east and rockies. The dates work perfectly for me giving me enough time before finals that i can FINALLY make a Moab trip. But the hotel fees for a week are a bit out of my budget, so i may be one of the guys finding a spot to set up a tent. So mark me down as coming, and living... well for all i know it might be under a bridge, but thats just minor details that need to be ironed out :shifty:.

SWEET! There are a few of us that camp on these trips. Camping at Neo's is nice cause all of your gear is secure and that is where everyone usually meets up in the mornings/ evenings. If you want to be out in the stars every night, you can camp up on the rim. I try to camp in both locations (a couple days at Neo's and a few up on the rim). Camping will save you those hotel fees. just make sur eyou have a tent safe heater for this time of year. They do get snow once in a while.

i would definitely prefer buying a tent heater versus a few hundred in hotel fees. BTW, any of you colorado guys, would you want to caravan out to Moab?

Edit: if its cool with Neo, i'd prefer his backyard rather then under a bridge. Not looking to get stabbed by a grumpy old troll or anything like that...

Anyone adverse to very narrow switchbacks down to a river where we can have lunch? (And I don't mean Shafer trail or Mineral Bottom switchback!) Of course that is after driving through Hell with a photo stop at an Arch (not that bad really).

Yes...
Problem is that someone has to volunteer (I'll go) to go down first to make sure there is no oncoming traffic. Then at the bottom (when we are going down) or at the top (if we are going up) the person should stop traffic (if there is any). There are only about four places where two vehicles can pass. Only narrow in terms of passing.

Some teaser photos....

Start of the switchbacks (past the gate):

And we can't go any further on the road shown in the bottom photo. Road ends and it is a beotch to get back out.

And why don't my photos show from photobucket, only the link?
