With the anouncement of the new contract for the Oshkosh personnel vehicles, I have seen a number of sites auctioning off the Humvees. Bidding begins at $7,500 usually. I hear that the military has their own DOT regulations, so what would be required to make these street legal?

What are the sites called? I'm sure if they are not street legal, there has to be lots of safety issues, including working turn signals, proper seat belts, and pollution restrictions requirements, that I'm sure we're not used when originally made. Of course I'm winging all this, but if you find out anymore information, please be sure to share here on this forum.

I looked at this a couple months ago, last I checked, anything being sold right now is marked for offroad use only, and there isn't any way to get them street legal in the USA as far as I could find. That's why street legal Humvees go for a pretty price. There was a thread on here not that long ago about all of this.

Street legality would depend on the individual state. Many people have titled the SF97 "Off road only" HMMWV's with regular on road tags. The toughest state would probably be Arizona since there was an DMV official a few years ago who adopted a statewide policy of not titling any more HMMWV's (Yet you can get tags for a golf cart with lights.. go figure)
