I pulled the trigger last week and ordered the Jet Performance 76101 Throttle Body for my 5.3L Alpha. I was able to find it online for $268.00 online with free shipping (most places had it listed for $350.00 and up). It appears to have a slightly bigger bore, and it's got a custom designed intake throat. After installing it I followed the instructions and then took it for a test drive. Throttle performance is greatly increased, it'll get up and go now especially to pass someone, and when you shut it off you get a cool bleed off sound (and I don't even have a CAI yet).

Overall I think it was well worth the $268.00! I'm sure I'll be even more impressed when I get my AirDoc installed.

Hrmm??
Other than that short machined out throat and engraving in the air flow path on the butterfly what other changes are supposed to be made?
What is the link to more info?

Seems like a reversed engineered throttle body spacer claim, which sort of works according to some dyno data I have seen at the place that makes them of course.

I would like to know more.

It's more than the etched logo, and nice machine work. The electronics are the same, but the bore is different front/back vs the OEM. Not sure how much bigger, but I can actually hear it sucking air when you rev it up vs the OEM setup, and like I said it makes a cool hiss when you turn the engine off. I'd say it's certainly sucking more air vs the OEM TB.

Throttle Body spacers go behind the TB and sure they might re-direct the airflow, however they do not magically allow more air into the engine. I had a TB Spacer on my Jeep, but it was not for performance, but rather it gave me the proper alignment for my CAI.

Spec's are top secret I guess(can't find detailed ones), I laid them side by side and compared them, and there are differences. The bore of the throttle body was maybe 2mm more and it's 100% round vs the OEM unit that has a weird bevel cut on the backside. It maybe a snake oil device, but I took it for a drive and the throttle response is much more sensitive and when you put your foot down there is no lag, more like a surge of power to be honest. I also have free flowing exhaust by removing the OEM Muffler/Resonator and I just have magnaflow installed in same spot as the Resonator. My air intake although it's still stock I did modify the opening to probably 1/2 an inch larger than before.

Very cool!

I wonder how much of an effect opening the air box had on the change you notice, did you do both at the same time or where they done on seprate occasions?

I am making a list of mods to do once the supercharger starts to feel boring :p

Interesting. Was it a plug and play deal or did you have to get it programmed? Any codes pop up?

Completely PNP, just disconnected the battery, so it can do a drive cycle/relearn with the new TB. Zero CEL's as of right now. I've driven it about 35 miles so far, but later on this evening I'll be driving 240 miles round trip to a friends New Years Eve party. Out of all the stuff I've bought for my Alpha lately this was a very well made product, and I'm happy to say it is Made In The USA!!

Yeah I still have the Volant sitting in the box waiting for an RMA, and I so want to just toss the tube on along with the filter/MAF and take a spin lol. The AirDoc will get ordered when I get my $$$ back on the Volant.

It's larger and a different design vs the OEM.

So far I've done 150 miles with it (took the Alpha to work) and passing people you can feel the extra throttle response. Got another 300 miles before I'm home after new years.

No they don't make one for the 3.5/3.7L, they do list a performance MAF for the 3.5/3.7L though. Best thing for the 3.5/3.7L is Supermodulation ported/polished TB.

Nothing says love like a throttle body lol

Hey Best, Question for you...you still have the volant intake? I need an entire air box and all for my v8 swap. How much? Is it any good? I was gonna do air doc but I would still need an OEM box...

I can certainly feel a difference upon acceleration. I'm happy with it, but the people I've read the reviews on that didn't notice a difference had stock intakes/exhaust. I have a modified intake with an airdoc and my exhaust is modified so I can pull more air in thru it and out the exhaust.
