Is this normal ?

I have a 2005 H2 SUV. I know there was never a lot of clearance for the bump stops but is 1/2 inch normal?

If not I'm wondering if I can crank the torsion bars only a little to raise it back up, without sacrificing the ride. I have air suspension so I do not want to crank it up alot. Any suggestions?

you might have a little droop , but most trucks ride pretty much on the bumpstops. when i cranked the t-bars on our 3 i went to just about an 8th of an inch off the stops . it has settled and are just kissing now. if you crank it up much off the stops you will get some nose diving when braking .

Wow. After having the truck this long I never knew it was that close to the stops. I figured maybe it did just droop this year.

I have been thinking about trying to adjust the front a little higher anyway but I really didn't want to change the keys and go up two incheser . Is it possible to keep the torsion keys I already have but just torque the front up maybe an inch?

I'm scheduled for a free alignment next week and if its possible I would like to do it this weekend.

yep , just jack up one side at a time with the wheel in the air turn the big bolt that twists the torsion bar . make a mark on the bolt with a magic marker and go 3 or 4 turns and then the same with the other side set it down and see how she sits . you might go a little more but dont go too far off the bump stops .

Just remember to drive it and brake a few times, then re-measure. One side might take more or less turns then the other, so check each side to make sure they are both the same.

Thanks. Will do. Hopefully in going to try it today, but now the wife wants me to close the pool and put on the cover.
She just wants to throw a wrench into my wrenching.

You can take the adjustment up to 23 1/2 inches as measured from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the fender lip. Anything more and the angles of the front end are off. Of course that would be a bad thing and parts breakage normally follows. As stated in other posts, measure, crank, drive, re-measure, adjust, then get a front end alignment. The last step is very important.

Isn't that the measurment for H3s? My H2 is at about 25" and isn't cranked very far. My axels are pretty much straight.
