Finally found someone in Australia that will make extractors for the H3 I5. Picked them up this week on a business trip to Melbourne as I wanted to make sure they would work (luckily too as I had to get them to add the O2 Sensor port) IMG_0193.jpgIMG_0194.jpg

It looks like that one goes without a catalytic converter, unlike what we're set up with here. I don't know if your models have the cat.

Yes our H3 models come with 2 CATs just like yours with the first CAT in the manifold to pass SMOG while the engine is cold (the first CAT heats up quicker) ........... We don't have smog tests here just a visual inspection. With the second CAT still in place (& all the O2 sensors) I doubt any inspectors here will notice the first CAT is missing ........... :sleazy:

Haven't fitted them yet, just getting gaskets & spare studs ATM just in case these get damaged taking the header off. Australia only ever got the I5 3.7l so there won't be a V8 here unless it is a custom engine change (I know of one 6.2l LS2)

how are they, did you notice a difference in acceleration? What are these made out of? I have been looking at getting new headers for a while. I was looking at KPE because they are stainless steal, but they are $750 :/

Hey Ron, have not fitted them yet (& I have Gibson Cat Back so will be different sound also). If you click on the link @ post #4 it will take you to the article. Honestly, I would pay the $750 for the Stainless Ones, these ones are in Australia (so shipping would cost a bomb to the USA) and they are made from aluminized steel. I asked if they could make them from Stainless but they said they wouldn't as there is little demand for these.

I had the H3 in yesterday to get the headers/extractors fitted while I was in Sydney on business. Mechanic called me up to say the OEM manifold actually has two (2) O2 sensors (there was another one under the heat shield before the first cat that I didn't see). The extractors I bought didn't have an O2 sensor at all so I got them to put one on not knowing there were 2 sensors. I am thinking I might put the first sensor in this hole & find somewhere further back to put the second one.

All good now...........Extractors (Headers) are fitted up & working great with no engine codes. The exhaust place I went to fitted a "mini cat" like device to the second O2 sensor port

Hi Chook, do you have a snorkel fitted already? we might have found a gremlin when doing the headers first before doign the snorkel. Busy doing some test to make sure that this is the root problem, but the idea is that when the exhaust is decat, the additional fuel from snorkel (not sure what to call it). dumbfounds the PCM and then you have a heavy juice drinking RIG.

I had my Snorkel done before the exhaust and had no issues like this.

Hey Sennin, I don't have a snorkel but thanks for letting me know. I usually find if you do any performance work it is good practice to disconnect the battery for 30 mins to reset all the computers so they rebaseline themselves. I also have the aftermarket "Hypertech" tuner so that loads up a different tuning map as well. At the moment it is still retuning but my scanguage is showing I am using 1 litre per 100Km less fuel than before I fitted the headers.

Great stuff. I have the bullydog monitor as well as the HPtuner to play around with. My consumption on the v8 improved from16l/100km to 14l/100km with my headers and dual 65mm2 exhausts.

Great Skippy, are you getting the mini cat for the last O2 sensor?.......... Mine has a real sports sound now, even pops & burbles. I don't know if it contributed...... but my 2nd CAT got a rattle & had to be replaced last week. The guy at the exhaust shop said it was just a coincidence & the new sport Cat they fitted says it should be changed every 120,000 Km so it seems it was due for changing anyhow.
