How to remove the mirror only from H2 power side mirror

I need to remove just the mirror from my driver's side power mirror. It will not operate when pushing the buttons on the driver's door. It seems that the mirror control mechanism has become detached from the mirror itself. If I can remove the mirror I can fix the problem. I also found that with the mirror not functioning properly that it makes the power fold in not work sometimes depending on the mirror position. I found all sort of articles on how to remove the whole assembly, but I just want to remove the mirror. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Very very carefully. There are 8-10 tabs that you need to unhook from the motor. If you don't get them all, more than likely you will break the glass. And just the glass on the drivers side is extremely expensive.

So the tabs need to be lifted, correct? What is the easiest way to do them....start from bottom or side?
