We'll have to postpone until tomorrow. It is dark on this coast now.

Ok Im gonna need some opinions on this from some others to confirm or deny my thought process on why the ride is stiff.

First lets start on the front.

Bumpstops: they are part of the working suspension...the TC bumpstop and the oem bumpstop characteristics are probably different and the oem suspension has the bumpstop less then an inch off the lower control arm. Not here...

Oem hub to fender distance is 22.5 rancho recommends 26.0-26.5 and TC is the same seeing its a 4in lift. What's your hub to fender? I remember you mentioned you cranked yours higher and it looks that way.

Torsion bar: the rancho kit uses that cast piece to leave the torsion bar in the stock location and leaving it straight and level. Seeing TC doesn't have that cast piece and no Torsion bar drop brackets in the back isn't the Torsion bar at an angle and being bent? Does that effect how the torsion bar work? Idk that's where someone else may confirm or deny that. I have never seen a TC kit in person or driven one.

Rear: the springs were designed to be stiffer then oem. We talked about that but it was still better then the add a leaves. Also I used stock shackles and wouldn't that push the shackle angle back and soften it up a bit?

Sorry Chris, haven't been able to snap a pic yet of the rear cross member. Seems like Cory had an answer on that though.

What course of action do you recommend I take? I don't like the idea of twiddling with my t-bars....all the alignment costs add up quick.

I don't need the pics. I know you mentioned to me dropping it off at a shop before you do that I'm gonna have you experiment. Maybe someone else can chime in. Put on the stock shackles and measure the hub to fender for me.

I don't have the stock shackles anymore. Unfortunately somewhere between VT and NC they've gone missing.

If it was ME, I would order the following items from Rancho and install them

176352 Torsion Bat Relocator, Right
176353 Torsion Bar Relocator, Left
176349 Bump Stop Bracket (x2)

Return to OEM bump stops
Pick up a set of factory rear leaf spring shackles....there cheap, even from a dealer (Part #15166223 list for $10.40ea)

I'm confident that would take care of most of your problems and why Rancho users claim better ride quality then your experiencing.

MAYBE upgrade shocks at some point too as I no experience with Tuff Country shocks and can't comment on there quality

Great info Corey. I think those will all help a lot. I stated my concerns and all those parts are solutions to the concerns I had.

I know I bash on rancho springs but overall it's a great kit they did their research.

I haven't forgotten this thread guys, just had a busy weekend. I'll try to check with Rancho soon. Chris, what could be done to help smooth out the rear springs? Just some OEM shackles?

What do you run for air pressure in the tires? When I'm just driving around home I run about 38 psi. If I load up heavy for a long trip I will air up to 50 or 60 psi. If you are running 315/75r16's some of them are 10 ply and have a Max rating of 80 psi. If your running a lot of air pressure it will stiffen the ride and you will feel every crack in the road.
