I did make it up the first ledge over on the far right by the cedar tree. It wasn't too difficult getting around the boulder that was placed in the way. One of the things I like about this trail is that it does change quite a bit. The rocks in the rock garden were as loose as I have ever seen them. It made for a fun time navigating through it.

I would try and get an entire new case...who knows if it got all warped and ****ed up in the damage.

I took the H3 to Tustin Hummer this morning. The mechanic had the front differential torn apart before the end of the day. Not worth rebuilding, so a new one is on order. Actually happy about that. I had a transmission rebuilt once that I had to take back six times until they got it right.. Now I am cruising around in an Enterprise Rental HHR. I think it has a 2.2L engine and maybe 4 inches of ground clearnce. Should I take it up to Gold Mountain? :giggle:

What was the failure on the diff? I would have expected it to at least be making some noise or grinding.

It did make some noise at first. When I tried "street mode" there was a bumping or rattling sound. At first in 4 High, the same sounds, but not as severe. But, after a fewi miles in 4 High, it ws quiet and ran well at all speeds. My guess is it ground a gear to dust! When I pick up the truck next week, I will ask Gary of Tustin Hummer for more of the gory details. I don't recall hearing anything special when it broke.
