H3 with a hemi

So my 3.5l finally gave out at 270460 miles and my wife’s Michigan police package charger body finally succumbed to the rust. All within a month. I bought us new vehicles but couldn’t find it in myself to let the hummer go. It’s been with us since 2011 just before I left for Afghanistan so it’s family. I’ve been toying with the idea of a 6.2l LS swap for some time but I have a hemi that’s still strong. Anyone hear of a hemi swap in the H3 or Colorado? I did several searches but did find anything.

I think this is a pipe dream lol. Your gonna run it to so many hurdles with the cross platform Chrysler/GM. But hey if your knowledge base and pockets are deep anything could be worked out.

Anything is possible it all comes down to your skills or wallet. I've done custom motor swaps on my h3. Good thing I'm a mechanic lol

Interesting but I agree that the LS would be an easier swap. The Hemi is free but the headaches that come with that swap won't be.

Nice looking Hummer. I'm a big fan off hemi's .....but a new 3.7 (if you wanted to go the larger engine) ....completely rebuilt is about $4,500. That's a lot, but in the end, you could have your H3 up and going in about 2-3 weeks and not deal with 6 months of headaches to work out. It's going to take a lot to put that Hemi in yer H3. Then you'll need to manage the extra weight issues. There's going to be a lot of hidden things to figure out. And chances are it's going to suck a lot of yer time ...and maybe it'll never be quite right. Just throwing it out there if you sold the Hemi and put it toward a rebuilt I5, it could give you a lot of free-time to do things you like, and you get your old H3 back up and running like you liked it.

Or, perhaps you might be able to rebuild your 3.5 yourself for a lot less than buying a rebuilt engine. If its rebuildable. Right now there are about 3 used H3 engines around here for about $150 each. Each with a problem, but together could make a rebuildable engine.
