H3 aux cord for music

Hey guys,

got an 09 Alpha, has the navigation display but now way to connect my phone for music. I know my 2 has an aux input on the back of the head unit and I had it wired through the console. Is the H3 the same way? How have you guys done it so you're able to use your media devices for music?

I use Schwarttzy's XM interrupter. It's basically an 1/8" female plug that gets installed into the XM circuit. To use, select XM1 as the source and plug-in your phone.. It's not perfect but it's cheap and works good. There is noticeable static bleeding through when music is not playing, and the jack cannot be mounted to anything (remains a loose pigtail)...but these are minor issues that I don't mind putting up with.

Is the sound quality good when it is playing though, and are you still able to use XM radio?

I use the I Simple unit was made for the H3s. Mine has worked great since the day Alrock helped me install it about 4 years ago. Easy to install.

Yes. I go back and forth between the 2 by just a turn of the knob from "Sat" to "Aux2".

Yes. Actually the iSimple needs a digital to analog interface with the head unit so does it via the digital satellite radio box. The "aux" input shows on the head display as a sat channel. At least that's how it works with the premium radio/CD changer.

I have the touch screen with the monsoon system, hopefully it'll work. If not Amazon is pretty good about returning things

If you mean that you have the factory nav stereo, the iSimple works with it. There's even a YouTube install video with that stereo.

Hey,

I'm the guy that makes the "H3 Quick n’ Simple Auxiliary In" and I would just like to note two things. First, I intend for people to drill a tiny one 1/8" hole inside the glove box and used the supplied nut to tighten it down. It's true in the past I was using a different part, which made using the nut impossible because of the thickness of the dash and recommended using a bit of super glue or hot glue, either works great, to secure it. Second, the static generally has to do with the phone you're using. Some phones you can hear just a bit of static, but nothing to stop you from enjoying the music. Where as other phones, like my HTC M8 has no issues at all with static. Well, unless I'm charging the phone and listening, then I have just a bit. But I do it all the time. Again this is just a really quick dirt cheap hack that gets the job done.

I use Schwarttzy's adaptor, works good and was easy, price is right. If you don't plan on a new head unit it's a good option.

S/A models don't come with Onstar or an XM box. Does the iSimple need to connect to an XM box?

I'm trying to avoid an install headache, if its inevitable I'll go ahead with schwarttzy's kit instead.

Edit: Was also looking into the Pioneer Apple Carplay compatible head unit… But I'd be stuck with crappy apple maps, no Google… And thats a deal breaker (at least here in Qatar).
