i would like a airdoc, what exactly does the airdoc do compared to just putting a peice of pvc pipe in place?

Pvc pipe is for flushing the $#!? out of my house when I flush the toilet... An AirDoc is a metal tube that was engineered to connect the airbox to the throttle body... Pvc would probably accomplish the same thing but I pesonally prefer not buying car parts from home depot.... The airdoc comes as a kit with all the necessary hardware and fittings and it's ready to bolt right in.... I suppose you could make something that you could save a few bucks on but I don't think it would look as nice or hummer-worthy... Just my $.02

I have an 06 I5.... There's a weird accordian coupler and a resonator box right off the throttle body... It has been stated that the contraption there is the most contrictive of the whole stock intake system. The airdoc eliminates all that constriction.......

does the resonator box have a filter in it, i havent touched mine yet, so what does the resonator box supposed to do, and is the airdoc just run a straight pipe to replace that box?

There's a lot of different threads on these forums about intakes.... It was between the K&N and the AirDoc for me.... I ended up deciding on the sealed system with a dry filter... I too will be doing the pcm tune after this stuff is installed.... I wanted to get the bolt-ons done first so they can tune the pcm accordingly... I'll just have to send the pcm back once I get bigger tires to get the speedometer corrected.... I still have lots of tread left on my ATs so tires are still a ways out for me...

Yea I would love bigger tires but my ats still got lots of tread too and it's my wife's daily driver now. As soon as its paid for its gonna be the toy. Tires are so expensive that's why it will be last thing for me probably. Trying to keep the mpg as good as I can till we get another car to have as a daily driver.

It was suggested to me to do some of the bolt-ons first. Certain things will affect the tuning process... An intake is one of them. The mods I have sitting here will probably be all I do to the motor... The rest of the upgrades are to the steering and suspension systems...

theres a mass air flow sensor in the intake tube... it measures air flow... the cleaner is just a spray that cleans that sensor... its very delicate.... pull the harness connector and the sensor is held in by 2 screws. pull it out and spray it down with the cleaner ONLY... be careful not to touch the sensor part. allow it to air dry, which should only take a minute or two. only use dedicated MAF cleaner. you can get it at most any part store for 5-6 bucks.... im gonna clean the dirt and stuff out of my airbox when I put the airdoc on so I gotta pull the MAF sensor....

yep... the airdoc maintains the stock airbox so its more of a sealed system to keep a majority of the muck off the filter... my 06 uses a canister style filter but its the same concept... the airdoc removes some of the constriction and the high flow filter helps it breath a little better...

the PTB is an upgrade over your stock one... its honed out to increase air flow I believe. it improves throttle response. he also has ignition spring deletes for the coil packs... I ordered both for $135 + shipping... figured Id do it all since it was being taken apart. at the very least, you could pull off your stock one and clean it up... theyre fairly easy to remove... itll be right there when you pull the stock intake off....
