Hi

Recently bought a hummer h3 2007 with the half shafts and front differential removed ,hence it is a 4X2 ,,question is of a safety nature - I believe the front wheel bearings due to their design are factory pre loaded - are there any safety issues to attend to ,such as sourcing half shafts ,cutting them short and putting them through the front hub with their retaining nut ,or is it fine as is - replies would be welcomed - thank you

Your on the right track!
Tip to save a few bucks. go to the local self serve auto wrecker and pick up some front shafts off any chevy 1500-3500 chevy truck, suburban or tahoe. Grab the nuts and and washers or buy the cheapest one you can at your favorite parts store.
You'll need to pull the axles out of the hub side and completly gut the cv bell. Install hub side in unit bearing and torque to spec.
PS. Dont let anyone tell you the hub side of the axle won't fit or work.
Hope you got a good deal. If you need parts to get the front end back together post up in the for sale/wanted section.

Thank you for reply ,and great tip - previous owner has been driving it as is and it just looks wrong besides quite concerned about undue stress on bearing- will do as soon as - stay well.

👍
Probably should clarify because someone will point out that I didn’t say that you’ll want the parts from a 4wd IFS Chevy

Thank you for being precise ,unfortunately in South Africa most wreckers will not have those brands - will have to find a wrecked hummer where parts are being sold ,stay well
