Dex-Cool:green coolant vs orange coolant?...

Is one better then the other?.... I know the green is more watery and the orange not but jus wondering the differences and if one is better for the hummer

I used Prestone when I changed my radiator. Switched back to Dex-Cool after reading all the pros and cons and opinions....decided to stick with manufacturer specs.

Because the manufacturer spec anti-freeze based on the metal combinations used in the construction of the motor the anti-freeze that is better is the one that meets the specs they have set.

Oops I forgot to say sorry, there's a o'reillys dex-cool and it's green, and the other one I believe the GM one, it's a silver bottle, and I think I have the green o'reillys brand in the hummer right now...

As long as it is not ethylene glycol you should be ok as they turn to gel when mixed together.

I was just looking at O'Reily's comparison chart, and now I am confused, their chart shows all coolants to have ethylene glycol base, but it also reads that the Dex Cool compatible is Orange, if you put in green then maybe you should drain flush and refill with a single known product.

Dex Cool will be orange. Dex Cool "compatible" or "universal" anti-freeze should be avoided IMO. If you completely change out the anti-freeze, then you're OK, but I would not mix different chemistries.

What Green1 and MaxPF said ...Stay with Dex-Cool only

I use this

Saves having to mix the concentrate with Distilled water....Even though it says Extended Life..I still change it out every two years regardless..
