I wonder if the h3 had held on a few more years if we would have seen it with the 4.3l ecotec3. Seems like it would have been a good match for the rig. Pretty low weight and decent low end grunt. Feel free to comment if you’re bored and have any thoughts. Cheers!

At one point there was a diesel under development for the H3 but that project got canned along with the rest of the Hummer line.

I think I read somewhere that the 3.6L V6 was going to replace the I5 until the news of Hummer demise replaced that discussion. The 4.3L might be a decent engine for a swap but I don't think they have the horsepower compared to the OHC engines. The earlier 4.3L engines were always very reliable as far as I know; I can't remember any bad comments about them.

I thought it was on here but someone posted a picture of a European H3 with factory Diesel. When we bought a new alpha air intake box from GM they had to ship from Michigan so it must have been from the last run of them the sticker on it said for V8 and diesel h3
