Check engine light and ruff idle

Yesterday my h3 started idling ruff drove it about 30min home with no issues. By the time I gat home check engine light was one and the ruff idle was horrible. It would fall to 0 rpms then jump up almost to 3000 rpms. Tried to get it pulled into the garage it ended up just dying on me it will crank up and just die again. just had it towed to shop. They are backed up till next week before they can look at it I did get them to run the codes here is what came up

Anyone know what would cause these issues or have any insight as to what is going on? It is an 07 i5 with 169000 miles

My guess would be timing chain. I doubt it's just a sensor issue since you have obvious issues with it running. Hope I'm wrong though.

For me, a rough idle has turned on the camshaft position sensor. I could see a bad sensor contributing to a rough idle - if it can't read properly, the timing could be off.

The second code appears unrelated - it's an airbag (SRS) error stored in history and not likely relevant, or even current.

I would try the sensor first. A bad sensor will make your car idle rough. I also suggest to spend a little more money and only buy GM OEM replacement. I changed one of these on another car that I used to own, purchased a cheaper, aftermarket part and the car idled rougher with the new part than it did with the old OEM defective part.

I recently changed the battery connectors that connect to my battery. It's ran fine for months now though. If it is a timing chain issue what would be the steps to replace that? Also how hard is it to change the sensor? Something I can do or just let the shop handle it? I am also thinking about running to the part store in the morning and purchasing both intake and exhaust sensors and replacing them both maybe worth a shot at least I'll know their good. Does anybody know which sensor is a and which is b?Thanks

All the more reason to take a closer look at the battery cables.
When you get multiple codes going off like that...sometimes the culprit is low voltage or more commonly...a bad ground. The odds of a bunch of different sensors failing at the same time is almost impossible. This points to the charging system....it's free and easy to check. It could save you huge money to retrace your connections.

The reason I said timing chain is because you have both the cam and crank sensor indicating an actual discrepancy in their relative positions. The times I have seen the camshaft position sensor be the issue it did not actually set a crank position code as well. Still hope I am wrong. If you do want to try the cam sensor, that is an easy step. Search for a post by Alrock. He had a really good writeup that helped me out.

I checked out Alrock's write up very informative. I plan to go check the cam shaft sensor for missing screens if they are I will replace it and see where that leads. If it is truly a timing chain issue will it need a replacement motor? Thank you guys for all the help.

My shop replaced all three sensors still idling ruff leaning towards a broken timing chain guide at this point.

Replaced the camshaft actuator

H3 runs prefect now.
