So by my fog light button is the call button, do I have to have onstar to have it? An if not is it a pretty simple set up to use it?

I believe its the same as other GM trucks. Ive used it in a 2500HD GMC where you add minutes to an account and your truck actually gets its own phone number. Then you call people from within your truck. I have bluetooth on an aftermarket DVD head unit so I dont use it anyways.

That is the Bluetooth button. You can sync it to your cell phone and then the truck becomes a speaker phone using your cell phone. You can place outgoing calls by pressing the Bluetooth button, then say dial and then the phone number or is you record a phone number and assign a name tag you press the button and say call nametag.

To answer an incoming call you press the phone button on the rear view mirror.

No, you do not need OnStar to use the bluetooth. Once you sync your cell phone to the truck, incoming and outgoing calls are routed through your cell phone.

Portager is correct, you do not need Onstar to use your bluetooth. There are set-up instruction in your owner's manual. It's a great feature -- I use it all the time!

I assumed that since the thread was titled Bluetooth you actually have Bluetooth. If you're truck isn't equipped with bluetooth, then you would need OnStar to make calls.

Wait, what? You don't need onstar to use the Blutooth connection to a cell phone??? I would swear I read somewhere that the blutooth required onstar.. Maybe confusing wording to "encourage" OnStar service? Either way, great news, I'm gonna check this out!

In non-bluetooth equipped trucks the call button by the headlight switch is simply to activate the Onstar phone system and you need to have the (overpriced) Onstar minutes to use it.

Maybe that was my confusion... I had an '07 before, now I have an '09. I was able to pair my phone to my T, but didn't have time to play. I did try to make a voice call and it said my phone (Android) did not support voice calls?? Never tried it, but I'd be surprised. I'll have to play around a bit more.
