I'm a V8 fan and the newer LR4's have V6 engines.

My H3 isn't sold yet so don't mark me off yet, and if it doesn't sell I'm 100% fine with it.

Kids will just have to zip it and their little friends can have their folks drop em off places lol.

This is exactly why I refuse to sell any of my guns unless it's one that I just hate. I sold a nice K-frame S&W .357 (stainless) so that I could buy a 1911. I love the 1911 but I regret selling the revolver. Especially since the prices on them seem to have shot up the last few years around here, even on used ones.

I will not bow down to the Minivan God's!!!!

everything is temporary... As is Vangina ownership. I had one, and it was a god send when little one was in a car seat. 18-24 months later, dump it and go back to manhood. There is no shame my friend. Best damn car I owned for dealing with an infant, hauling baby stuf, etc...

Edit:
Well I suppose in reality it was my wife's car... But story is still the same. SUV are hard to get a car seat in, just saying. With our first first son- we had an Explorer. 2nd son, minivan. Minivan was better.

:) good luck with the sale.

a bit of unsolicited marital advice.

while a woman may suggest she wants something different - and for a bit will be happy with the new choice - eventually she'll convince herself that she made you unhappy by 'forcing' you to sell the minivan. You honestly haven't lived until you've had one of those arguments with your wife... you did it for all the right reasons and she cannot be convinced that what she made up in her head is what actually happened. Point is this - there are "it would be nice" comments, and "we must do something about this" comments. It really sounds like your wife is saying the 1st not the second. In that case, modify the H3 to fit the need - though you won't get the joy of that argument, you also won't get the doghouse either....

Oh she leaves me totally alone with my toys lol. 3 LR's all to myself and I modify and tinker with em now vs the H3 as the H3 is setup and good to go. We passed an RT Dodge Caravan today and I said oh honey look at that awesome minivan... She went ummm heck no BARF BARF... She really isn't like the typical woman (I was in a relationship before I met my wife and OMG that lady was NUTS...). She's just like a Boy Scout when it comes to being prepared. I agree with my wife that the H3 is not a very roomy vehicle inside even vs my LR's. These stupid child seats they make now days are like Lazy Boy's and the back seat of the H3 is very narrow. I'll just get myself some good dry bags and when we go on trips I'll load up the Gobi a little more.

For now it's just if it sells it sells, but if it doesn't it doesn't. I'm not one to take a loss on a perfectly good vehicle just to have something different or new to me. I got this H3 for absolutely nothing when I traded my F150 for it keys for keys at Moritz Chevy 3 years ago. If I would have taken a loss on my F150 to get the Hummer H3 I'd still have the F150.

I kinda find it funny and entertaining with all the crazy CL replies anyways lol.

Indeed it is like a box of chocolates.

LR wise I've been extremely lucky to find great deals. I sold my Jeep Rubicon on CL very easily and my wife's H3. Both of those transactions went so easy. I showed up with the vehicles, buyer showed up in a public place. They looked the vehicle over, and I got a certified cashiers check from their banks (who had called to confirm VIN #'s and title status). Once all paperwork, checks, and title stuff was taken care of we went our different ways. Beats dealing with a shady used car lot or haggling on trade in values. I sell it, then walk into where I'm looking with cash in my hand. Then I make a deal. If they don't accept it I walk. Vehicles are like fish in the ocean lol. There is always another one somewhere else.

I would have a very hard time picking something to replace my H3... I don't feel there is anything on the market quite like it. Maybe once the new Defender 110 comes to the states next year then I will go for it but for now its staying for good. Do they make any good 4" lifts etc for the LR4's etc?

it was funny - today I was talking to someone about my old D2, and said "when I get my next one, I will _____" what the bloody hell? my next one? first car in decades I actually lost money on... I'm going to blame you, Best ;) it's a contagious affliction.

I'll have to say out of all my LR's I've only lost $$$ on one. It wasn't because of the LR either. It was due to a "so called" friend that said oh man I wanna buy your D2.... So I found my Kalahari and got a loan for it (as the "so called" friend hadn't sold his vehicle and I was gonna give him a bit to sell it). Well a week goes by then another, then a month then another month.... I never heard a peep out of the "so called" friend. So I sold the D2 at a 700.00 loss just to get rid of it and pay off the Kalahari loan.

I have never sold a vehicle in worse shape than I bought it. It's normally in much better condition and it's actually had the proper TLC and needs nothing but a new owner. The H3 is a truly amazing vehicle, but Land Rover's to me 1948-04 just have a soul or character that I can't explain. All the older 87-98 RRC/D1 Land Rover's I've ever sat in have this unique carpet/leather smell that reminds me of military canvas lol.

Sorry to get ya talking LR's again lol. I know I've been around em for years, and I got away from them for a bit, but something inside me keeps me loving them. I guess knowing up until January of this year the D90/110/130's were all still being made mainly by hand. Something unique in this day in age.

fortunately, there continues to be the white elephant (aka Sledanette) sitting in my shop - so a D2 is going to have to wait. I also have a hankering for another Suburban - something to camp in and pull my '40 to the trail...

Yeah I have an 03 D2 project truck I got cheap. The engine runs, but someone let it go way to long without inspecting for a stuck thermostat or clogged radiator then it blew a head gasket or slipped a sleeve and went mocha-chino. I got the entire D2 for 500.00 and I was originally just gonna use it for parts for my other D2's but I haven't needed anything serious. I plan on tearing the engine down and seeing exactly what went wrong. Besides one dent the rest of the D2 is perfect inside and out. I couldn't pass it up for 500.00 (as I remember when they were 44K). I'll either make a dedicated trail truck out of it, or just fix it up and sell it for a little extra cash. Wife doesn't mind my small herd of LR's so no rush on that project.

I told my wife and she understands that I've got to have some sort of project. When I first got the H3 Alpha I went all into it. Fixing and modifying stuff as I went along. Then the sad time came when I was done with it so no more tinkering. Then I got my 98 D1 and tinkered with it for two weeks to fix it up. 02 Kalahari was maybe a week then I slapped some nice upgrades on it when I saved up the $$$$. The 99 D2 for 1500.00 (all it needed was an alternator and a battery) just got a n oil change, a new thermostat and I had it done in 3 days. I've got to slow it down I guess!

Still not a single serious hit on the Alpha even with a price drop of 14.5K without the rear bumper, ladder, and Gobi (people these days want everything for nothing....). Looks like it's here to stay unless someone serious comes along. So no fear my Alpha is still here lol.
