Here's the recap thread for this great trail run put on by Portager. We had a smaller than expected turnout with eight trucks but that worked out well as the trail was a bit harder than expected and it ended up taking us a full day, though we did take our time. No breakage, a few scratches here and there and some excellent spotting (and recovery) by Dwaine from Scorpion 4x4/Preferred Chassis Fabrication.

Thank to Zach we had a raffle for this event and we did a last minute change to the recipient of the funds. 100% of the money donated is going to our recipient as all of the prizes were donated, including H3 lower grille offroad lights from Zach and a replacement Scorpworks crossmember from Dwaine, among other prizes. We were able to raise $320 that is going to our fellow forum member, and Superstorm Sandy victim, Ron46. We hope that these funds, along with the many donations provided by members that didn't attend this run, will help Ron46 and family during this challenging time.

All of my pictures may be found here, and all are available for download in their original resolution :link:

This run must at least be an annual event, if not just moved into the rotation. Great trail! Everyone did very well and BigbadT definitely gets the Newcomer Award for taking it slow, asking questions and simply doing a great job driving.

Stopped on the first big hill climb.

Dwaine in the Bob Miller Extension. This, I think, could be the trickiest part of the Extension just in that you have to climb steep on the rock to not take your roof into the wall.

The waterfall that Dwaine would soon be climbing. Zach posed for scale at the top

Zach in the wedge. The rock under his driver's tire kicks the truck into the rock on the passenger side where the Men in Black are standing.

The trucks coming through the rock garden. Portager is at the spot where I got hung up and had to stack some rocks.

The third hill climb. This one as a steady off camber of 10-15 degrees the whole time.

The group near the top. Note that in the upper right corner there's a small blue speck.

It's this F150 resting (un)comfortably off the trail. Recently abandoned but hopefully someone will come back for it. This hill climb was steep and loose. I didn't have my locker on so I stopped in a shale pile to engage it, and promptly sank several inches. The truck slid to the outer edge before finally gaining traction and moving forward

Yah not sure I knew what I was getting into. The UCP finally took the beating I put it there for, took chunks out of my tires, but no body damage ! We will be there for the next run!

You did great, Mike. Those bangs and scrapes on the underside are a normal part of wheeling over rocks.

Before you know it you will look to scrape and destroy the UCP :) So bummed I didnt make it, This would have been a perfect spot to really put the spring over to the test.

Looks like you guys brought the zoo along as well, 2 bumper monkeys & 1 of the rare tire monkeys

Those tire monkeys are hard to find, but wait until you see the hood ornament!

On the way out we came to a fence where we turned around. I was a little concerned getting out of my truck to take this picture.
