Well Zach, I guess you really earned your veep wings this weekend! Great job! I have had a hell of a four-day weekend getting all moved. Now that all my stuff is in the new place, I can start work on the next run, Last Chance Canyon. Hopefully, it won't be repeat performance like this weekend!

Zach did a great job. As usual he had a great supporting cast. :) It was all fun. What better way to spend a day than in the mountains on a beautiful day with 15 good friends and your Hummers?

Great video clips. The video quality of the GoPro looks a lot better then I expected.

Thanks, I was pleasantly surprised myself and I design and build electro-optical sensors for a living. Many people either have their GoPro HD camera set to standard resolution or they post it to youtube in standard resolution. I make sure I'm recording in the highest possible resolution and post in HD. The down side is the uploads take a l o n g t i m e . The amazing part is the videos look infinitely better before I upload them to youtube.

I got some still photos from the overlook area at the talus rock garden. Gave me a chance to test my 14x optical zoom and the optical image stabilization.

Then Serge decided to entertain us by backing onto a huge boulder and self rescue by winching himself backwards over the boulder.

We were also entertained by what appeared to be a homemade vehicle with a Jeep hood.

Once they replaces the second tie rod they tried to tow the H2 SUT through the rock garden

but that didn’t work, so we sent the H2 SUT on the bypass route.

In hind sight out biggest mistake was not sending one or two other vehicles with him. Lesson learned.

Leaving the rock garden.

I moved from a three bedroom to a two so the garage is going to be full of junk for a while. Maybe later we can do a wrenching party if/when I get a cast iron front diff!

When you get the CI diff. I'll deliver it if you supply  :woot:

I was talking to Bill. His friend is now looking for better tires [the H1 Wagon] for his 16.5" cepek wheels.

I checked with trailworthyfab and they sold out of the BFG Baja T/A military tires [they sold 500+ in the last 2 weeks], anyone got leads on good 16.5" rubber thats not a GSA or MT? Getting a MT is trivial these days but not the best choice. I can't find anymore MTR's for 16.5.. at least without buying new HMMWV rims attached to them.

Wow, what a day. Long but fantastic.First I want to thank every one who helped me to get off that trail. Now, just droped off prop shaft at driveline place, it look like it wasn't build correctly. Ends are ~30 degrees apart and it dosn't look like it twisted. 20k mil on that shaft did a number, CV joint was worn out and I did hear it clicking on the street, but I thought it was coming from transfer case. Now its getting rebuild. If I blew transfer case, it time for manual select TC. Shaft will be done tomorrow and will see if TC is gone?

The tandem-towing of Hamster was one of my favorite moments. Between AAMCO and myself we must have been able to tow several small buildings or one highly built H2.

I'm glad you got home safe and got Hamster the TLC it needs.

I was really impressed with that also. Once the Hamaster was lined up it went up that last hill like it was nothing.
