"King" of OffRoad shocks? Prob Ridge Demon Custom Tuned Fox Shocks with the reservoir would be "KING" until someone make a shock specificly for the H3/H3T. After that most all the shocks for a t-bar adjusted H3/H3T are off-the-shelf shocks for a 2" lifted 1500 Chevy/GMC including the Bilstein Cognitos. If you don't believe me look up the part # and see what they fit.

Shocks are a very subjective part. Some like a stiffer ride and others want a smooth "flexy" ride. OffRoad, I personally like the OEM OffRoad package shocks with the HUNNER 1/2 nut trick. It seems to put them back into the "sweet spot". MY other choice would be the Rancho 9000XLs adjusted to "super soft" for OffRoad and 5 to 7 for OnRoad. I rode in a "T" with them OffRoad and they soaked up the Drummond Island rocks like butter.

Just remember eveyone has their own opinions of what is the "KING". It might not be your cup-O-tea. If you have the chance to ride in someone elses rig that has changed out the shocks do it! Nothing like real world exp.

King shocks support many of the Ultra 4 racers I am friends with. They are a great shock, but they are very basic in the sense they are not necessarily made for OEM replacements.

However, you can give them any specs, diameter, length, ends you want and they will make a custom set, but every one will be a one-off build. They are for tube chassis type applications and that usually means racing - Desert, Track, Ultra4 etc. and if you have to ask $$ you can't afford it. I know their triple bypasses (their most popular shock) can run $2,000 a corner. Look up KING Kong shocks and you'll get the idea. :)

Thanks bebe. I had looked on there website and they had an oem section, i just didn't see one for the H3. I know that they guys over at off-road evolution run the shocks on their vehicles. But 2000 a corner, never mind that, ill go with something that is a whole heck of a lot cheaper.

Mu, by king i meant the brand not which one was necessarily the best haha but thanks for your input, seeing the cost of these, ill probably go with something like the ranchos or somethign else :)

They have OEM - but if you look at them, they are very limited.

Tim's going to kill me, but I would avoid Rancho 9000's, I went through 5 of them, and should have just bought the Fox in the beginning. The Rancho rears are OK, but the fronts are too short, I pulled shafts out 3 times before I had had enough of that.

Going with the cheap alternative? Keep the OEM Tenneco's. They are a great shock. I've run both the Adventure and Base versions.

Fox or Bilstein - that's my advice. FWIW.

Fox 2.0 7/8 shaft remote bypass coil overs.

I ran the Fox H3 shocks for a few years and loved them.

Edit: I should ask which one right? I have the OEM Adventure Tenneco's on my miniHummer, and the Fox on the Bebe Monster.

Tim shouldn't kill you...you have your right to an opinion. I haven't had issues with the ranchos yet...but they are too short in terms of travel for the lifted 3s too.

CG: Ahhh, i see now KING Shocks.

Like you I wouldn't even have looked at a $2000 per corner shock ($8000 total!!!). I would invest that kind of cash in a ful on IFS upgrade like Bebe has done.

I have been riding on my good ole OEM Adventure series shocks. I've contemplated the Bilsteins for up front a time or three, almost pulled the trigger a time or two. Then I always return to a more important analysis: the old shocks ain't broke yet, and do I have beer money.

I have 4" custom length dual bypass res shocks on my hummer and they were under a grand each. The smaller ones required by an h3 would be cheaper for sure (Fox was actually quite a bit more $$ when I was pricing them out for my application).

If you aren't jumping or racing maybe save the $$ and go with oem-ish?

EDIT: ...ooops, they are 3.5" triple bypass res shocks...

A consideration for aftermarket shocks on the H3 - if you have the tomp low profile shock mounts on the rear then you may find that not all aftermarket shocks fit inside the U shaped cutout. The mounts were designed around the OEM setup and I've seen an example where non-OEM shocks would not fit.

Hahahah! That is priceless.

I'm actually trying to figure out (at this very moment) what to pick for Happy. I just can not seem to pull the trigger or even get the gun out the holster. There are so many products to sift through (this is a good thing).

I've looked into Sky Jacker, Monroe, Gabriel, Tuff Country, Rancho, KYB..... Ugh! where to even begin....

Just went from stock to Cognitos in front & 5125's in back on mine... VERY impressed with the road ride. I didn't buy them for road performance, only thing I cared about was trail, but really surprised by how well they do considering I'm off the bump stops on front & shackled in rear. Even driving back from the end of trail with the rear disconnected it had better road manners than it did before connected with stock shocks.

For under $300 I sure can't complain about them.
