Hello My Name is robert zick I just got a 2006 Hummer H3 and i want to try and out 35 inch tires on it, the off road shop I go to is insisting that a 35 inch wont fit they are trying to sell me a leveling kit to go with it and they want me to get a 295/75-16 or a 285/75-16, i want what i want and reading what you posted and the look of your hummer is amazing, you have BFG 35 inch MTZ on it
Can anyone please tell me exactly what i need so i can go to a tire shop and have these put on without getting taken to the cleaners? This is my first Hummer I have owned and i want it to be safe for my wife and kids when we go wheeling however i don't want some guy in a shop to upsell me on crap that i don't need, I'm turning to the experts

thank you in advance

Lots of guys on here are running 35's stock. The leveling kit is snake oil. Just crank the torsion bars, get an alignment, and profit.

35s will work on stock tires and stock suspension height. They will rub at full lock, some more than others depending on the tire type. But just pick your favorite pair of 35s and throw them on.

You will rub the sway bar at full turn. The stock 33's will rub with it leveled. I'm sure others who have 35's can chime in to verify.

I'm stock, leveled, running 295's.

thank you CG and Cowboy, just for ****s and giggles, when i get the 35s on there will the front seem lower than the back on it? these idiots at my shop are telling me that without a leveling kit my front end will dip down and make the truck not look even front to back. it really sounds like a sales tactic because the advice im getting them you and the forums im on seem to tell me different, obviously i dont want the truck to sit un even ideally i wold like it to sit even front to back.

any preference on tires? I am on a beer budget but definitely want a tire thats going to last going to be doing a combo of off road and street, Need a tire for less than 180 per tire. any suggestions on tires that work well in dirt and street?

thank you everyone

Lol idk what those guys are smoking. The tire in no way affects ride height of the body front to back. Yes the vehicle will be x number of inches higher off the ground everywhere.

yeah some of these shops here in Burbank, CA rip guys off and at the end of the day we want our rigs and families to be safe, I feel comfortable dealing with someone who isnt going to sell me a timeshare so to speak, so the more i know about what im getting the better i really appreciate all of your help.

Any preference on tires? at either 315/75/16 or 295/75/16? want to make sure i do as much research as possible to educate myself.

I got my Alpha last year and the p.o. had put BFG A/T on it. I'm also looking for some good cheap 315 M/T's.

The BFG's did good on Saran Wrap/Eagle Rock trail here in Colorado (they are rated 8 trails). Of course I do have a rear locker and 4:1 t-case.

Almost overkill if used for strictly street. Load rating is 3860# per tire. That is 7720# per axle (My K2500 Suburban with the 454 weighs that much). Great for off-road durability, bad for smooth ride

As has already been said, leveling kits are a complete BS waste of money. Tighten up the torsions yourself; it's easy. Do a search on here; ton's of "how-to"s.

Stock tire sizes are either 265/75R16 (32") or 285/75R16 (33") on the adventure pkg/off-road pkg.

Go with 315's and find the tire you like and can afford to buy. Unless you are looking for straight mud or rock tires everything else is strictly opinions and they are all good opinions. Decided what you will use them for, generally an all terrain is all you will ever need and still get good tread life. I run BFG AT's and am happy. If you are hesitant about cranking your T bars let me know I can give you a hand if you want, 30 minutes at the most and you're done other than an alignment check. I'm not too far from Burbank I have made the drive many times.

Thank you rascole so I've narrowed it down to 2 brands
315/75-16 Dick cepek extreme country

315/75-16 Mickey Thompson deegan 38

Which tire would you want on your truck?

The tires will fit without cranking the torsion bars. There will be minor rubbing from the sidebiters at full lock, a little more so with the torsion bars cranked. I had rubbing on 33" Duratracs, you just live with it and don't turn the wheel so hard on the brakes. (it wasn't an issue in reverse tho)

Its up to you, if you like the look or are interested in offroading then it's a pretty good idea to turn them up.
