Ok so just had all of my power steering replaced and before so when I would turn left I would need to kinda force it not like I'm doing a work out but more than I should, turning right is fine but some times the same. No I did go up to peters mill about 3 weeks ago and that's when the PS failed but noticed it on the way home. After being fixed still same problem. Could this be the steering rack? Thanks!

Possible cause coul be inpropper bleeding of the new system, or a highly unlikely halfshaft/CV on its way out.

I would check the rack, make sure it is in proper alignment and that the mount on the passenger side is in good shape. Have you done any changes to the rack?

Just got an alignment also I wouldn't know what to check for on the rack

The OEM bracket should be dead vertical and a perfect "C" shape. The rubber gasket inside the bracket should line up with no deformation visible - it's shape should mirror the bracket. The crossmember to which the bracket is mounted should be perfectly flat and vertical with no deformations.

On the bracket, the C shape should be intact from the back and side.

Here's an example of a deformed bracket (also due to deformed mount). Note how the two "ears" don't line up.

Can't find a better pic than this. What you can't really see here is that the top of this broken bushing is about 1/2" over from the base. When it was on the truck and viewed from the back, it was obvious that it had pushed to the right. Those ridges should frame the bracket evenly.

Ok so haven't updated this in awhile, put the h3 in the shop and the rack is shot, should be getting this back soon, also since the start of this thread I have gotten a new PS pump also.

As long as you have some basic tools and patience. It's definitely more involved than an oil change, but I think most people can do it. I did it without screwing anything up, so I guess that's saying something!

I'm with 08H3 on that...as long as you have the rack out, now would be the opportune time to do a bushing upgrade. A brand new rack ain't worth a crap if you put it in with worn bushings.

Well I have an extended warranty so I'm not te one replacing the rack, I told them if they see any bushing need to be replaced or feel like it would be best to go ahead an do it, can't use aftermarket part unless they approve it
